The next day, these two practitioners were sent to the Lubei Sub Bureau. Police handcuffed Guo Xiaohui to a steel chair for seven days and six nights. They interrogated her day and night and tortured her with electric shock using a crude device consisting of two copper wires twisted around her two thumbs, and a rotary telephone dial, which was turned to administer the electric shock. They wet her wired thumbs to achieve the maximum possible shocking effect. The police feared that her horrible shrieks (while being shocked) would be heard, so they gagged her with a wet towel. As a result of the electrical shocks and the iron chair torture method, her fingers were burnt and she was unable to walk.
On January 24, the police sent Guo Xiaohui to Ankang Hospital (a psychiatric hospital) in Tangshan City, where they carried her to the "Drug Rehabilitation Centre" on the third floor. Because she refused to receive unknown injections and medication against her will, police then bound her to a bed and forcibly gave her injections, infusions and then force-fed her. Because she didn't cooperate with them she was given forced injections several times each day. After four days of treatment in Ankang Hospital, her arms were covered with needle marks. She rejected the force-feeding every time, so the medicine had no effect on her and the force-feeding has not been successful at all.
On January 28, the police had to carry her over to the Tangshan First Detention Centre and isolated her in cell 404. Xiaohui was cuffed in bed because she practised the Dafa exercises. Her arms and legs were handcuffed to iron rings, causing her left thumb to become numb. Because of staging a hunger strike she was handcuffed to a metal chair and force-fed. The police left the tube in her stomach for several days once they put it in. The female guard Huo Jixia directed prisoner Chen Xiangli to force-feed her with thin rice porridge and water (over 2.5 kilogrammes) everyday, once every half hour. Moreover, she wasn't allowed to use the washroom. Yao Shujun (Director), Huo Jixia (Guard), Liu Xianghong and doctor Chen Zhengtang (in charge of force feeding) beat her up, and deducted money from her bank card for a so-called forced feeding fee (a total 20 Yuan).
Tangshan First Detention Centre is still illegally detaining over 10 Dafa practitioners. Meals there are very bad, only one bowl of thin rice porridge for breakfast, one bun and half a bowl of leaf soup for lunch. The same was served for dinner. The detention centre also sells cooked food but it is very expensive. For example, one tofu dish costs 15 Yuan, ten times the street price.
On March 31, 2003, Dafa practitioner Nie Chunling was kidnapped and taken to the cell where Guo Xiaohui was held, but was stopped at the entrance by the director there. The director first transferred Guo Xiaohui to cell 404 and then began to yell at and beat Nie Chunling. For the next few days, the painful voice of Nie Chunling could be heard everyday when she was force-fed.
