Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre Abducts and Brutally Tortures Over 100 Falun Gong Practitioners

The "610 office" in Qiaokou District of Wuhan City built a three-story building across the street from Qiaokou District Etouwan Detention Centre to detain Falun Dafa practitioners. They call it the "Legal Education Centre" ( it's a brainwashing centre). In total, there are thirteen places like this in Wuhan that are being used to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. There are approximately 100 Falun Dafa practitioners detained in Qiaokou District, Wuhan City, not including those who have been sentenced to prison, transferred to forced-labour camps or detained in drug rehabilitation centres. Most of the 100 practitioners are between 50 and 70 years of age. Among them there are cadres, teachers, doctors, college students, engineers, self-employed business owners, workers and housewives. [the "610" Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems].

Next I will expose the facts that I have witnessed during the past year and a half, detailing how the "610 Office" of Qiaokou District followed Jiang's orders and persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners. The "610 Office" of Qiaokou District uses the following methods to persecute detained Falun Dafa practitioners: forced brainwashing, not allowing practitioners to practise the exercises, not allowing them to read Falun Gong books, not allowing them to talk about Falun Gong related topics, forcing them to work and do drills, forcing them to listen to the staff read newspapers slandering Falun Dafa and Teacher Li, and forcing them to watch TV programmes slandering Falun Gong.

The summer of 2001 was very hot, and the brainwashing centre was located in the suburbs where there are a lot of mosquitoes. There was no screen door for the rooms that Falun Dafa practitioners were detained in, and no mosquito nets were allowed. In addition, no one was allowed to go to the toilet at night. There were constant incidents occurring in which practitioners became injured after being beaten. Once, after an attempt to resist the persecution, policemen Jin and Zhou knocked Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Zhang Zheng (28 years old) and Ms. Xiao Yingxue (30 years old) on the ground and kicked them very hard; Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Ning was beaten to the point that blood from her nose soaked the front of her winter coat. 23-year-old practitioner Mr. Zheng Zhibin was beaten to the point that his right eye was so swollen that he couldn't open it; practitioner Mr. Yi Zhifa was beaten by several policemen simultaneously to the point that he couldn't even stand; another practitioner, Mr. Yu, was knocked to the ground by a policeman who then stomped him very hard on the chest. Dafa practitioner Mr. Chen Lin did not sign the "transformation statement," and twice tried to escape the centre, but both times he was caught and taken back for brutal beatings. Practitioner Mr. Yan Kejian was beaten and injured by a staff member, following which he was placed in solitary confinement.

Another time, a policeman wrapped Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Zhaofen's head up in a towel and slammed it hard against the bed's headboard, causing a big handful of her hair to be ripped out. In the summer of 2002, the staff of the brainwashing centre locked Wang Zhaofen alone in a room; at the same time, Ms. Zha Yuanqing (62 years old), Ms. Zhou Ailing (32 years old) and Ms. Yao Yulan (50 years old) were locked up alone in different rooms. Dafa practitioner Ms. Zeng Xianmei was locked up in a room for practising the exercises, and a staff member pummeled her head with his fists, declaring, "I am not beating you." They later sent her to be detained for 15 days, after which she was sent back to the brainwashing centre. Ms. Zeng Xianmei was beaten by policeman Xiao to the point that bruises were all over her face, and she kept on bleeding. One morning in the winter of 2001, more than 90 Dafa practitioners were forced to walk for five consecutive hours in the playground without anything to eat. Dafa practitioner Mr. Zheng Zhibin did not take his hands out of his pockets, so an evil policeman knocked him onto the ground and kicked him with his boots. Upon seeing this, practitioner Ms. Zeng Xianmei declared that "the policeman is beating people," and then policeman Jin beat both her legs with a newspaper holder until it was broken. At 6 PM one winter evening, the vicious police forced over 90 practitioners to the playground and made them stand there in the cold wind for four hours, during which they illegally searched them one by one. They even forced them to take off their socks and searched them. They ransacked each practitioner's bed and clothing. To try and force Dafa practitioners to give up cultivation practice, they didn't allow us to have enough food, and only fed us things like boiled radish and moldy rice. Two-thirds of the time during that year and a half, almost every meal we had was boiled radish and moldy rice, and they still collected 300 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.] from each of us every month for 'living expenses'.

Because I didn't sign a "transformation statement," they would not release me, and lied to my family by saying that I didn't want to go home. During that time they kept putting pressure on my family and caused them great mental and emotional harm. On June 12, 2002 they transferred me to the Wuhan City brainwashing centre (located in Yujiatou, Wuchang District) and didn't allow me to sleep for 4 or 5 consecutive days. During that time, all the Falun Gong practitioners who hadn't signed things against their will while under pressure were subjected to sleep-deprivation persecution.

For the sake of his own desires and to give vent to his personal spite, Jiang launched this inhumane persecution four years ago against millions of kind-hearted people who believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." These same people have been conducting themselves according to principles such as not fighting back when being beaten, and not swearing back when being sworn at. Jiang utilised his power and all the propaganda machinery and public opinion tools in the country to carry out vicious defamation against our most respected Teacher and Falun Gong, and to deceive people throughout China. To promote justice and safeguard the truth, I, as one of millions of Falun Gong practitioners, and using my personal experiences of suffering during the persecution, and the facts of the persecution against my fellow practitioners that I have witnessed, request that Jiang Zemin and the "610 Office" be tried in the international court.
