During March and April of 2002, Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp started a campaign to "assault fortified positions" [to reform the steadfast practitioners]. Practitioner Jiao Mingfeng in Unit #1 was beaten badly and had serious injuries, causing him to become handicapped. His head was severely injured internally, causing his eyes to cross and paralysing his body. He could not even go to the toilet without others having to carrying him. Later on his condition got worse. He developed a fever and felt dizzy all the time. However, officials at Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp still refused to release him. The medical equipment in the camp is very simple and crude. Without any good treatment, Jiao Mingfeng's health condition continues to worsen.
2. Facts about the persecution of Li Ou, a Dafa practitioner from Changchun City
On April 2002, policemen arrested Dafa practitioner Li Ou and sent him to Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp. Because he refused to cooperate with the evildoers and refused to wear a name tag, he was brutally beaten by criminal inmates. At that time the guards were at the scene. However they did not stop the criminals, instead they instigated them to beat Li Ou until he was semi-unconscious and lost the ability to eat food. Still, the prisoners forced him to "sit on the bench", a physical punishment conducted in Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp in which they force practitioners sit on a small bench without moving and with two hands on the knees, head up, and the waist straight. Because of his health condition, four criminals surrounded him to prevent him from falling down. They claimed that this would be the punishment for whoever doesn't follow the "rules." Since he could not eat by himself, the criminal inmates also threatened him, "If you don't eat, we won't give you any water either."
Li Ou's eyes were injured as a result of being beaten. He lost his sight for a period of time. Even though he can see now, his sight is still very unclear. His current situation is unknown.
3. Guard lectures in Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp
Gao Lu, the instructor in Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp who was responsible for brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners, tried every possible mean such as enticement, coercion and beating to try to brainwash Dafa practitioners.
During the campaign to "assault fortified positions" period in April 2002, day after day, he kept lecturing practitioners over and over again, "The Communist Party pays me, and I do whatever it tells me to do. Since it forbids you to practise Falun Gong, you just can't practise. The only choice you are facing now is being reformed. Just listen (Dafa practitioners' painful cries while being tortured could be heard all over the building.)! In several days, you will be assigned to these Units. Who can bear this? At that time, you will experience the so-called 'Proletarian Dictatorship.'"
4. The turn-around of a prisoner who once acted as hatchet man
Dan Dongsong, a prisoner who had been sentenced to two-year-term prison, used to shout curses or beat Dafa practitioners. During the brainwashing period against Dafa practitioners, he brutally beat practitioners even more severely.
Under policemen's enticement: "The more Dafa practitioners one can reform, the earlier he/she will be released," the prisoners persecuted practitioners. Dan Dongsong exerted to his utmost to persecute Dafa practitioners. He was so vicious that other prisoners who also persecuted practitioners could not even bear to watch him and called him a madman.
However, the policemen did not fulfill their promise to reward Dan Dongsong. Not long after, he was sick and had a severe fever. The police did not help him get medical treatment; instead they accused him of pretending to be sick. They cursed him and ordered him to get up and get to work. On the contrary, Dafa practitioners helped him compassionately. They helped him take his medicine, carried him to get injections, and fed him food.
The facts eventually made him clear-headed. When Dafa practitioners carried him to get treatments, he told the practitioners with tears, "You are good people. I was wrong."
