Dafa practitioner Ms. Tan Xiuying, a 40-year-old former Shijiazhuang Tractor Supply Factory employee, was laid off because she practised Falun Dafa (Falun Gong).
Since July 20, 1999, Jiang's rogue regime has decimated the families of Dafa practitioners. The police tried to intimidate Tan Xiuying and told her that if she didn't stop practising Falun Dafa, she and her husband would be laid off, and their son wouldn't be able to go to college. Under such pressure, Tan Xiuying did not waver, but her husband was forced to divorce her in order to maintain his ability to make a living.
Ms. Tan travelled to Beijing numerous times to lawfully appeal against the persecution and explain the facts about Dafa. She was kidnapped and sent to the Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp where she was subjected to inhumane treatment. Her solid faith in Dafa remained firm. In 2000, she was transferred to Baoding City's Gaoyang Labour Camp and afterwards transferred to a Baoding City mental hospital for further persecution. Ms. Tan went on a hunger strike to protest her illegal incarceration and suffered a fever of 40C (104 Fahrenheit) as a result of the brutal guards force-feeding her human excrement. They tortured her for over 60 consecutive hours by handcuffing her to the floor in a position that forced her to stoop low to the ground with her arms spread wide. The longer she bent over like this, the more painful it must have been, but if she even moved, she was attacked and beaten with electric batons by five to six guards. In 2001, Ms. Tan's family paid large sums of money to secure her release. She was in an alarming condition when she was set free; she was very frail and disoriented.
Sometime in April or May of 2003, Ms. Tan was again abducted by authorities when she was posting flyers revealing the facts about Falun Dafa and the evil persecution. She was illegally detained in Shijiazhuang First Detention Centre for a while and then sent to the Fourth Division of Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp.
