Finnish Falun Gong practitioners held their first event next to Helsinki railway station on Saturday 19th. With large information boards portraying the persecution in both English and Finnish, accompanied by flyers handed out by practitioners, the different issues regarding Falun Gong and the persecution became known to countless passers-by. Many people stopped to read the display boards, to talk with the practitioners, to express their support, and to sign a petition calling for an end to the persecution and to bring Jiang Zemin to justice.
On the early morning of Sunday 20th, practitioners gathered in the front the Chinese embassy in Helsinki to hold a day long peaceful appeal. With banners and display boards, the practitioners attracted the interest of not only local people, but the staff of the embassy as well. A reporter from one of the largest TV channels in Finland came to interview the practitioners at the embassy. Later a story about the appeal appeared in newspapers as well.
