Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Jr.:
Greetings! First, we thank you for your response in your letter of April 30 and everything you did to help rescue persecuted U.S. citizen Charles Li and Chinese Falun Gong practitioners. At the same time, my husband and I want to extend warm respects to U.S. government representatives who made efforts in the passing of Resolution No.188 on July 24, 2002, including California representative Tom Lantos who wrote a request on June 11, 2003, to ask the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in the name of "friends of the court" to continue the lawsuit against Jiang. Their acts of justice upheld the principle of Truth Compassion Tolerance, which all human societies need. These actions supported persecuted Falun Gong practitioners and upheld justice and conscience in the world, and they fully demonstrated democracy, freedom and human rights, upon which the U.S. was founded. These actions firmly rejected dictator Jiang's attempt to stop the lawsuit "at all costs," including diplomatic means. We express our respect to those representatives who uphold justice!
The two forces the Chinese ruling Party uses are lies and dictatorship. It's hard for people living in democratic countries to imagine what this is like. The spread of SARS earlier this year caused loss of life around the globe as well economic losses. This event made it possible for dozens of affected countries and regions to learn about the Party's lying. People who were never persecuted cannot imagine the absurdity, viciousness and brutality of the persecution of Falun Gong. In persecuting Falun Gong, Jiang's political scoundrel group used the most vicious means in history.
Today, my husband and I again write to the representative of the people, in hopes that you will stand up for justice and rescue a student, Ms. Wei Xingyan, who is in a Master's Program in China. Police arrested her only because she was suspected of hanging balloons that read, "Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) is good" on campus. She was beaten and raped by police, who broke her trachea and esophagus with a hard object and almost killed her. Some people in China who paid attention to this event were arrested. This innocent student needs your urgent help, so she will be safely released from lawless police who publicly raped and tried to kill her. Below are the facts of her persecution:
Chongqing City is home to my husband and I, and Chongqing University was less than two miles away from Shaping County's Political Science and Law University. The field of high-pressure continuous current transmission and simulation technology is one of the premier fields of study at Chongqing University. Police abducted this third-year graduate student Wei Xingyan on May 11 because she was suspected of hanging up balloons on World Falun Dafa Day. She was illegally interrogated at the "610 Office," which specializes in persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
On the evening of May 13, the police took her to a room in the Baihelin Detention Center and ordered two female inmates to strip off all her clothes. Wei Xingyan cried out, "You have no right to treat me this way!" Then a police officer in uniform came into the room and pushed Wei Xingyan to the ground and raped her in front of the two inmates. Wei Xingyan sternly warned the police, "I have seen your police badge number. You won't get away with this."
After the assault, Wei Xingyan started a hunger strike in protest. After repeated force-feedings by the police, on May 22, Wei Xingyan, already on the verge of death, was sent to the Southwest Hospital in Chongqing City for emergency treatment. Many plain-clothes personnel from the "610 Office" guarded and monitored her day and night so that they could question, follow and arrest those who went to visit her.
When Wei Xingyan's circumstances were exposed, the Chongqing municipal government and the "610 Office" on one hand, blocked all files and information about her attendance at Chongqing University; on the other hand they said, "Wei Xingyan has already been picked up by her family members." Afterwards it was confirmed that Wei Xingyan had not gone home at all. It is probable that Wei Xingyan has been transferred to another place to be persecuted further. Presently, all of Wei Xingyan's roommates in the dorm and all of the female students living in part of her dorm-building floor have disappeared without a trace. They are not at school. Their original dormitory is also empty. People who paid attention to this occurrence became targets of arrest. A dozen related people inside and outside of Chongqing University have been arrested.
The persecution of Wei Xingyan is only a minor example of Jiang's crimes. Police officers who committed the crime were transferred elsewhere. People who are related to Wei Xingyan are all being persecuted; we are therefore extremely concerned for her safety. We call on all kind-hearted people in the world to extend a helping hand in rescuing this young and kind graduate student, Wei Xingyan.
We firmly believe that with the sympathy and support of the U.S. congressmen, senators, and people in different countries, this butcher and dictator who murders innocent and good people will be tried in the future.
Since there is no channel to rescue Wei Xingyan in China, as Maryland residents, we hope our representatives can take quick action to rescue this innocent female graduate student!
Respectfully,
Mrs. Xue, 82-year-old Falun Gong practitioner
Mr. Xue, 79-year-old Falun Gong practitioner
