Letter to a Practitioner from the Chief of the Human Rights Department of the Finnish Foreign Ministry

Falun Gong practitioners in Finland have collected petition signatures during different activities,urging the Chinese regime to stop its persecution against Falun Gong. The petition mentions the global legal lawsuits against the former president and the main architect of the persecution, Jiang Zemin, and it is urging to bring him to justice. The completed petitions are sent to the human rights unit in Finnish Foreign Ministry. Countless Finnish people are supporting Falun Gong and they hope that the Finnish Government will bring up the human rights issues concerning the persecution of Falun Gong even more actively. Here is an answer from the Chief of the Human Rights Unit after the petitions and letter were sent to the Foreign Ministry.

Dear (practitioner),

I want to thank You for the petitions that you sent concerning Falun Gong. We have also taken closer look at the Falun Gong report from the year 2003 at the Foreign ministry.

The Finnish government has continued to pay close attention to human rights situation in China. Just like I mentioned in the letter sent to You on the 25th of November 2002, Falun Gong issue is being looked at all the time in the relations between China and Finland as well as in the European Union.

Finland will continue its efforts to improve human rights and basic freedoms worldwide.
