On World Human Rights Day, German human rights organisation and Amnesty International held a series of activities concerning human rights in both China and Cuba. German Falun Gong practitioners were invited to attend the conferences. The following is a summary based on an audio report from Radio Free Asia’s German correspondent, Tianyi:
On Monday the 8th of December, the German International Human Rights Association and Amnesty International held a series of activities for World Human Rights Day. Representatives of Falun Gong were invited to participate in these activities. Our reporter interviewed a scholar from China, Ms. Zheng Zhihong, who was invited to attend Monday’s press conference.
During the press conference, Ms. Zheng introduced the human rights situation and the persecution of Falun Gong in China. She also answered reporters’ questions during the conference. After the press conference, Ms. Zheng summarised the dialogues she had with the reporters in Chinese.
Under the arrangement of the international human rights organisation, Ms. Zheng and Ms. Dai Zhizhen visited the Social Democratic Party’s human rights spokesman. Ms. Dai is from Australia and her husband was persecuted to death in China because he practised Falun Gong. In a meeting with the party spokesman, Ms. Zheng and Ms. Dai explained what Ms. Dai had experienced in China, and that similar human rights abuses occur every day in China. They call on the German government to take into account these cruel acts while making economic exchanges with China."
