I started practising Falun Gong in 1995 and have greatly benefited both physically and mentally. On February 25th, 2002, I went to Beijing to appeal. Before I reached the appeals office, a couple of plainclothes policemen stopped me to ask my name. After they knew where I came from, they sent me to the local government's liaison office in Beijing and notified the police station in my hometown. The town sent three people to Beijing to pick me up. They went on a tour and ate and drank with extravagance and waste, running up a bill of 10,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] and made me assume the cost. I was illegally detained in the county detention centre. A policeman kicked me when I was exercising.
On the next day, they locked my hands and feet in an iron frame. I went on hunger strike to protest this illegal persecution, and they force-fed me with a strong salt solution. I was detained there until June 21st and they still did not release me. I went on hunger strike again, and on June 24th, they force-fed me. Because I resisted force-feeding, they locked my hands and feet again in an iron frame, carried me to the side of the toilet, smeared the waste from the toilet on my chest and left a cloth soaked in urine and faeces on the side of my head. The president of the police station, whose last name was Chen, found a stick near the toilet to pry my teeth apart. Six or seven prisoners and policemen pulled out my false tooth and a real tooth next to the false tooth, pried my mouth open and fed all the salt solution into my mouth. I had several injuries in my mouth and the flesh on the right corner of my mouth was torn. Because I continued the hunger strike, they did not release me until June 27th. Due to long-term detention, I lost not only my job but also my family. To add to my torments, my wife divorced me.
I had to live in my sister's house after my divorce, which caused many burdens for her family, so I left my hometown to look for a job. Being afraid to be implicated, no company would dare to hire me. I endured intense mental pressure.
At the beginning of December 2000, I went to a practitioner's home, where three other practitioners came to see me. Someone reported to the police station that we met together, and the police came to arrest us. After I was taken to the police station, they cuffed my hands behind my back, forced me to put my head down, and beat my buttocks until they became black and blue. They handcuffed me for over 8 hours, and around 12 p.m. on the next day, right after I entered the room, they ripped off my clothes and started to beat me. They tried to force me to tell them whose house I had visited. I did not answer. Two people pulled me up from the ground by my hair and then threw me back down again. A few clumps of hair came out and I almost fainted. One policeman pinched the inside of my leg and tried to force me to step on Teacher Li's portrait. Because I did not step on it, they stomped on my toe with their boots. One policeman, having lost all shred of humanity, said, "If I had two execution quotas, you would be the first one." [Based on Jiang Zemin's persecution policy, each forced labour camp gets a "death quota", or "the number of Falun Gong practitioners a forced labour camp is allowed to kill."] They tortured me with electric batons at night. Because I refused to say a word even when tortured, one policeman covered my head with a plastic bag. At that moment, somebody invited him to dinner, so he mercifully stopped persecuting me.
When they sent me to the detention centre, I was in very poor physical condition. They did not care about my wounds and sent me directly to the cell. After I entered the cell, they poured cold water over my head and threw over 10 basins of water on my body. We slept on our sides, packed tightly together, and it was so difficult to turn over. The prisoners' feet were right in front of my head. There were two meals every day, which consisted of a piece of bread and a radish or pickle. Due to the beatings, I felt chest pain, and I was so thirsty that I could not swallow. During that month, I was so skinny that I was very weak and could not stand up. Even under these circumstances, I was forbidden to drink water. I was beaten twice for drinking water. The policemen tried to force me to write the guarantee letter [A statement to declare that one is remorseful for practising Falun Gong and guarantees not to practise Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners] and said they wouldn't release me until I wrote it. After a month, they sent me to the detention centre and continued to detain me there because I did not write the guarantee letter. They also notified my original residence place and sent me to the county detention centre. I was illegally sentenced for a year in a labour camp.
After I was released, I was arrested again in a village on November 18th because I was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. The policemen locked my hands and feet in an iron frame and force-fed me. It was extremely cold. They put me down on the ground to do the forced feeding. Every day was almost the same as that. On the twelfth day, my legs were completely swollen. On the nineteenth day of my hunger strike, the policemen released me from the iron frame after they saw my life was at risk, and they were afraid to take responsibility for my death. They sent me to the hospital, forcefully gave me injections of unknown drugs, and still did not release me. They again sent me to the labour camp. Because I refused to sign and the procedure was not complete, the labour camp refused to take me. They gave 200 Yuan to the head of the labour department and his wife to keep me there to be persecuted. The policemen there secretly told the prisoners who were jailed for stealing, beating people, or practising prostitution to beat me. They applied all kinds of methods to prevent me from practising the exercises and studying the Fa [the teachings of Falun Dafa] and tortured me with electric batons if I did not give it up. There was a firm practitioner who did not give up, so he was shocked for over four hours by three or four policemen with the electric batons.
These are all my own experiences.
