Dafa practitioner Ms. Cui Ningning, 46, was from Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. Police arrested her in May 2003 when she was distributing Dafa flyers and subsequently sent her to the Heizhuang Detention Centre, a branch of the Jinshui Police Department. Because of a hunger strike and having been force-fed, her health deteriorated and she was near death. She died 11 days after release from the detention centre. The following is her story:
Ms. Cui Ningning used to work at the Henan Province Food Import and Export Company. In May 2003, while she was distributing Dafa flyers at Henan's Agriculture University, a university security guard spotted her and had police arrest her. The police sent her to the Heizhuang Detention Centre. To protest the unjust persecution, she conducted a hunger strike during her detention, which resulted in severe torture. According to inmates in the centre, four or five police held her down for force-feeding. They intentionally poked her mouth using a tube, and she screamed so loudly that everyone could hear. Blood spewed from her nose.
Cui Ningning insisted on unconditional release. The detention centre police initially did not pay any attention at all, until her health had severely deteriorated and she was near death. Afraid to take responsibility, the police released her on July 18, 2003. Eleven days after her release, Cui Ningning died at home.
