Recently, China utilized economic interests to induce members of the French government to bribe the French police to unreasonably arrest and violently treat peaceful Falun Dafa practitioners. This severely violated French laws and the spirit of freedom, equality and fraternity that France has always advocated. This behaviour also violated Falun Gong practitioners’ legal rights and, in reality, it conspired to reinforce the Jiang’s regime’s inhuman persecution of Falun Gong.
On the afternoon of February the 5th, the French Falun Dafa Association and renowned attorney Mr. Leon Lef Forster jointly held a press conference to announce their plans to file a complaint against the people who are responsible for this miscarriage of justice.
The lawyer Mr. Forster first told reporters that the specific defendants of this lawsuit would not be named. The reason for this is that he hopes the court will find out who issued the order to let the police unreasonably detain Falun Gong practitioners on January the 24th, during the Chinese New Year Parade on Champs Elysees Avenue. When reporters asked why the police station was not the defendant, a French Falun Dafa Association representative stated that they wanted to find out the origin of this incident.
Attorney Forster stated later that this legal procedure is not against the French government, but aimed at those unknown people who are responsible for the illegal violence and arbitrary interpellation and questioning. He said, “We want to know whether someone clearly issued the order to them, or whether it was done due to fear or personal will. Whether someone received the order to apply such suppressive measures to treat these people wearing yellow scarves, whom even the TV said were peaceful? We saw on TV, a person sat in meditation with his eyes closed, very peaceful. He only wanted to express his support for those persecuted people and remind the French Parliament that people are being persecuted in China.”
When reporters asked whether the French police violated the law and whether they were aiming at Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Forster emphasized once again that the French police’s behaviour completely violated the French spirit of freedom of expression. They cannot find an arbitrary excuse to question someone at will. If it is not within a certain judicial scope, they even have no right to check people’s identification cards. In addition, unless the situation requires it or it is necessary to safeguard social order and peace, the police have no rights to violently treat anyone in France.
AFP, Central News Agency, New Tang Dynasty TV, Epoch Times and Digipresse came to report on this event.
