While vice-president Hu Jin Tao was in the UK, a practitioner informed the BBC World Service Asia TV station about the Falun Gong activities following the vice-president. They were very interested and invited the practitioner for an interview. A few days later this interview was broadcast live to Asian countries with tens of millions of viewers. The interviewer talked about the persecution and also mentioned our efforts to release Trinity College Dublin student Zhao Ming.

After the interview, the practitioner spoke to the producer about the vicious killing of an eight-month-old baby and his mother in China. Having heard this, the producer wanted to do an interview just about that in the future.

Meeting the Chinese Vice-President at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, UK.

As a part of the tour of London, the Chinese vice-president, Hu Jin Tao, and his entourage went to Greenwich Royal Observatory.

Six UK practitioners went there to practise the Falun Gong exercises and display the banners. We were the only demonstrators there, so the Vice-President could easily see us. The local policeman were extremely friendly and helpful. Two of them really wanted to know about Falun Gong and the persecution. One of them pinned the Falun Gong badge on the inside of his coat and told us, after the Vice President’s party had gone, that he especially stood away from the banners so that the Chinese group could read them. Also, two journalists from major newspapers interviewed us. To begin with we were told that we may not be allowed to demonstrate because it is a royal park. After a while an official told us that we were welcome and that we could demonstrate. He also said that we must have a friend in higher places otherwise we would not have been allowed into that part of the park.
