The Zhangjia "Shelter", in Jiaozhou City, is in fact a site that detains many Falun Gong practitioners. In June 2001, several practitioners including Gao Siyun, Li Xue, and Wang Qun were forcibly taken to the "shelter" from their homes. One practitioner, with the pseudonym of Guo Qin, was arrested while telling his friends about the persecution of Falun Gong , while two other practitioners were arrested while visiting their relatives. Also, Wang Qun (19), Guo Qin (22), and Li Xue (28) were recently sentenced and transferred to a labour camp.
In Zhangia “Shelter”, when guards torture practitioners, they would turn the television's volume to the maximum to drown out the cries of pain. The guards refuse to allow visitors to see practitioners with signs of injury and have even detained practitioners who came to the shelter as visitors.
