Ms. Li Huiping, a school teacher at the Primary School Associated with the Kunyang Phosphor Company in Jinning County, Yunnan Province, was forced to leave her job in 2002 and was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labour.
On February 17, 2004, the security department of the company deceived her into going with them, with the excuse of needing to talk with her. The second day, her husband Bao Weiyuan received a notice from the Political and Security Department of the Public Security Bureau of Jinning County asking him to sign a "Notice for Interrogation." Mr. Bao said, "You arrested and detained my wife for no reason, which infringes upon the fundamental human rights of a citizen and violates the Constitution." He therefore refused to sign the notice and had a quarrel with them. About ten days after Ms. Li was arrested, her husband was found dead at home. His face had some scratches and the cause of death was unknown. Now, her only son, who suffers from several illnesses, is left at home and nobody is taking care of him.
