European People Condemn the Shooting Incident in South Africa

Zeng Qinghong, who has played a major role in the persecution of Falun Gong by the Jiang Zemin regime, visited South Africa during the 27th-29th of June 2004. On the evening of the 28th, a car carrying Falun Gong practitioners from Australia came under gunfire while on their way from Johannesburg airport to Pretoria to make a peaceful appeal. David Liang, the only person in the car wearing a jacket with the words “Falun Dafa”, was shot and suffered a shattered foot. This incident marked the most severe case of a five year long persecution against overseas Falun Gong practitioners by the Jiang regime. The victims believe the attack was a premeditated action of hiring someone to kill.

The Jiang regime dislikes overseas Falun Gong practitioners greatly, but felt helpless because these Falun Gong practitioners live outside China, thereby are out of their direct control. The only sickening actions they can exert on these practitioners were refusing to extend practitioner’s passports, refusing to issue passports to newborn babies, tapping practitioner’s phones etc. Overseas practitioners are protected by local national laws and the Jiang regime can not just do things at will. In recent years, many senior Chinese officials who actively followed Jiang in persecuting Falun Gong, were called upon to answer to the courts when visiting overseas. They are extremely afraid of and deplore the lawsuits filed against them for their despicable actions in foreign countries against Falun Gong practitioners. Hiring gangsters to shoot to kill is their last desperate action.

The persecution of Falun Gong by the Jiang regime is itself a most evil and stupid act. By cultivating Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, Falun practitioners want to be better persons and become physically fit. This would surely benefit the nation and would have been a great gift to the leader of the Communist Party and the army. But Jiang Zemin was jealous and suspicious and decided not only to ban Falun Gong, but also to send millions of practitioners to forced labour camps, prisons, mental hospitals, brainwashing centres and other detention centres. According to reports by the Falun Dafa information Centre, since July 1999, one thousand and sixty seven practitioners have been persecuted to death by torture; over one hundred thousand practitioners were sent to labour camps; over six thousands were sentenced to jail with terms of up to eighteen years; tens of thousands were arrested and detained.

Falun Gong practitioners think that since they all cultivate in the same cultivation way, how can overseas practitioners do nothing while practitioners in China face such a brutal persecution? For five years, they visited governments, non-governmental and other human rights organisations, and they appeared on streets and corners to let people know the brutal persecution occurring in China. In later years, they took the legal option in different countries and filed lawsuits against senior Chinese officials on their state visits who are responsible for persecuting Falun Gong. These lawsuits closed the backdoor escape routes when the time comes for their judgement.

Jiang Zemin, the main culprit and initiator of the persecution, has been sued for genocide and other crimes in the USA, Belgium, Spain, Taiwan, Germany and South Korea. Other prime culprits who actively participated in the persecution also received court orders when visiting different countries. These are: Zhao Zhifei, Head of Public Security and Deputy Head of “610 office” for Hubei Province; Zhou Yongkang, Communist Party General Secretary of Sichun Province; Liu Qi, Mayor of Beijing and Beijing Olympic committee; Xia Deren, Deputy Provincial Governor of Liaoning Province; Li Lanqing, Head of “610 office”, Chinese Vice-Premier, Chinese Communist Party Politburo member; Luo Gan, Head of “610 office” which was established to solely target Falun Gong practitioners; Wu Guanzheng, former Communist Party General Secretary of Shandong Province, one of the main officials involved in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners; Sun Jiazheng, the Chinese Culture Minister, Chairman of Chinese Internet Civilisation Engineering Committee; Bo Xilai, Minister of Commerce and former Governor of Liaoning Province.

This time, Jiang Zemin’s old partner Zeng Qinghong, who is internally called “the King in actual charge of State Affairs”, and Bo Xilai visited South Africa. Afraid of being sued again, they showed the real face of gangsters and organised the shooting of the car carrying Australian Falun Gong practitioners who planned to sue them in South Africa. A Falun Gong practitioner who was the only one wearing a jacket with Falun Gong words was shot and suffered bullet wounds in both feet: One foot was shattered.

The persecution of good people by Zeng Qinghong and others is an act of contempt for justice and conscience of international society, an act of contempt for humanity and an act of contempt for peace-loving people. In today’s society, people are striving for world peace and human rights. The Jiang regime shamelessly demonstrated to the world their evil means of brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. This is an open challenge to the whole world and is also used to test the response of the international community. If this action is not condemned, they will do as they wish in the world.

But they are wrong. Kind-hearted people made speedy and strong responses, and exposed their evil nature in front of world's public. This will surely accelerate their downfall. Many people are aware of this saying: “If heaven wants to lead a man to demise, heaven would first make him act madly”. This shooting event, aside from leading to their own early destruction, also made more kind-hearted people see their evil nature and to stand up and join the army against them. This is not what they could have predicted.
