In January 2004, the French police, unaware of the truth, mistreated Falun Gong practitioners in Paris under pressure from the Jiang regime's lies. After this incident, French Falun Gong practitioners actively explained the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution to French people in all walks of life, demanding that the relevant authorities be responsible for this and to apologise to Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioners' appeals received more and more support.
On March the 31st 2004, the French senator Bernard Joly wrote a letter to the newly-appointed Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Dominique De Villepin about French policemen mistreating Falun Gong practitioners. The response of Mr. De Villepin was as below:

You ask for my help to realise the actual situation that one person of French and Chinese origin and some Taiwanese, all Falun Gong practitioners, were interrogated and examined in Paris during the period of the Chinese chairman Hu Jintao’s visit on January the 26th 2004.
I am pleased to allay your fears. I will arrange to carry out a special investigation into this case and offer you reliable information in my next letter to you.
