78 Year Old Falun Gong Practitioner Mr Zhou Dehong from Hunan Province Dies as a Result of the Persecution

Mr. Zhou Dehong, a Falun Gong practitioner in Hengyang County, Hunan Province went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000. He was then caught by the police who beat him brutally and tortured him. After his release, Zhou stayed at home to recuperate but died on December 6, 2003. The following are the related details.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Dehong, 78 years old, was a resident at Quankou Village, Hengyang County of Henan Province in China. On June 18, 2000 he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He displayed a banner on Tiananmen Square and was then kicked and beaten by the police on the spot. The police used high voltage electric batons to shock him all over his body. In an instant, blood poured from this elderly man's mouth. He was dizzy and he almost fainted. After being persecuted in such a way, he was sent to the Tiananmen police precinct. The police there once again violently beat the elderly man. His right eye was hit so badly that it quickly swelled tot a great size. There were many bruises on his face and his chest was badly injured. After being sent to Hengyang administrative liaison office in Beijing to be detained for three days, he was taken back to Hengyang County, and detained for another 15 days. Furthermore, he was fined 5,500 Yuan (the detention centre took 5000 Yuan and Quankou Village took 500 Yuan1). After he was released, the old man stayed at home to recuperate. He suffered constant pain in his swollen chest and he often vomited blood. He was also unable to eat properly. Zhou Dehong finally died with injustice in his heart at 5:30 p.m. on December 6, 2003.
