On the evening of the 15th of August, 2004, Korean Falun Gong practitioners' two-week van trip to introduce the practise of Falun Gong and to highlight the brutal persecution occurring in China across the country successfully concluded. Practitioners travelled along the coast line of four seas, including the East China Sea, South China Sea, West Sea and North Sea, and passed through 21 large-scale beaches on foot. They re-enacted torture methods used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in China to raise awareness of the persecution to hundreds of thousands of tourists and locals.
Anti-torture exhibit held at Pusan |
According to a Korean TV report, more than 13,000 tourists were in Pusan the day that Falun Gong practitioners held anti-torture exhibits at two places. In order to help more tourists view the anti-torture exhibit, practitioners used a loudspeaker to explain the re-enactment of torture methods.
The re-enactment was so real to life, that tourists who did not know the truth often came to stop or condemn such an act. Some people wanted to call the police, and some said angrily, "How could you treat elderly like this?" They could not tolerate such acts taking place in Korea. The practitioners explained to them that this was an anti-torture exhibit to expose the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, and that the real torture that so many Falun Gong practitioners are subjected to is even more severe. We hoped that people with a sense of justice and kindness would help to work together to stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. When tourists learned about all of this, they expressed their sympathy for the practitioners' suffering and felt puzzled at China's suppression of Falun Gong.
While practitioners demonstrated the torture methods in Sea Park in Jiangling City, an elderly practitioner was acting as a victim of torture. Suddenly, a Chinese person snatched and tightened the rope around the practitioner and shouted, "Those who practice Falun Gong should be killed! Get him!" Local Falun Gong practitioners went up to stop him and asked what his name was and where he came from. He refused to reply. According to practitioners who participated in the activity, officials from China were on vacation here, and this man was possibly one of them.
