On March the 14th 2004, a St. Petersburg Radio Station broadcasted a programme entitled “How much is good health worth?”, in which they interviewed Mr Soltanok, a neurologist who practises Falun Gong to discuss the relationship between traditional morality and health.
Doctor Soltanok first explained to the listeners the relationship between health and moral standards from a medical point of view, and then cited with examples how practicing Falun Gong can return peoples health.
Soltanok said:
”Earlier in ancient human civilisations there already existed cultivation methods for the mind and body, helping people lead a better life and thereby obtaining the purity in morality, health and longevity. Today I want to introduce to you a traditional cultivation method, which is a type of Qigong1 and is a cultivation practice for improving one’s body, mind and spirit. This practice is the worldwide popular Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa.
Kindness and good health is not restricted to any particular nationality; Falun Gong practitioners can be found all over the world.
Falun Gong originated from China, founded by a Mr Li Hongzhi. He established this ancient traditional cultivation method, and modified it so that it can be practised by those in todays hectic and busy lifestyle. Falun Gong is very easy to learn and understand allowing it to spread around the world. It’s also widely practised in Russia.
Its higher-level universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, the easily understandable explanations about humankind and the universe, plus the five gentle and easily learnt exercises, attracted many people to willingly take up the Falun Gong practice.
As a medical doctor and a researcher, I take full responsibility for what I say. I have direct personal experience because I myself practice this method. I don’t want to praise myself, but I cannot help saying some good things about this excellent practice, which I have now been practicing for six years.
During the period of my practice, as an expert I collected vast amount of data showing Falun Gong’s beneficial effects to health. Many of those who practise Falun Gong are my friends. There are also patients who have just started practicing. They used to suffer from serious sickness such as ulcers, high blood pressure, women’s diseases, dysaynergia (maladjusted diseases), rickets etc, and now have been cured of all these diseases.
A woman with a tumour also recovered after she started to practice. One particular woman already showed symptom of a tumescent lung lymph. After a few months of practicing Falun Gong, the doctor was surprised to find in a check up that the X-ray picture of her lung showed no symptoms at all. Some drug addicts also recovered from their reliance on drugs by practicing Falun Gong.
My whole family, my wife, daughter and granddaughter, all practice Falun Gong. My daughter used to suffer from severe long-term pain caused by the lowering of her kidney. This symptom has now disappeared after she started practicing. My wife's series of blood capillary diseases also disappeared.
The most precious thing about Falun Gong is not its ability to cure illnesses. Falun Gong does not promote its magical healing effects. People come here for cultivation, gradually realising that the real reasons behind their sufferings are their owns negative aspects. Falun Gong explains that the suffering and illness of humankind are closely related to mankind’s moral standard and spiritual well being. Knowing and aligning oneself to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance during daily life will make one realise one’s negative aspects and correct them, leading to a better self. Clearly understanding the moral standard of one’s life and actions based on it, by changing our attitude to the suffering and sickness encountered in our daily life we are already on the way to a better life.
Aside from curing physical problems, the spiritual environment in our family also improved greatly. The relation between family members has become harmonious. We tolerate and treat each other with kindness. I am not trying to say that there are no longer any conflicts, but we have learnt to solve our problems with compassion. I want to emphasise this because Falun Gong directly points to one’s heart and moral nature.
The founder of Falun Gong Mr Li Hongzhi said:
“Cultivation practice itself is not difficult, and neither is upgrading one’s level itself difficult. It is because they cannot give up the human mind that they call it difficult”
Mr Li’s book Zhuan Falun2 can help everyone to understand Falun Gong. In the book it’s clearly written and explains scientifically how civilisation has developed, the various cultivation methods, and the relationship between moral standards and humankind’s fate and sickness.”
