On the afternoon of September the 11th, practitioners from Holland, France and Belgium held an anti-torture exhibition in Brussels city centre, displaying to the public torture methods used on Falun Gong practitioners in China. Practitioners did a lot of preparatory work beforehand. On the morning of the 11th, after the preparation was completed, practitioners also studied the Fa [the teachings of Falun Gong] and shared their understandings of the activity together.
In the afternoon, outside the Stock Exchange in Brussels city centre, practitioners did the exercises peacefully on one side of the building and on the other practitioners simulated methods of torture. There was a tiger bench, bamboo sticks pushed under the fingernails, a small cage etc. accompanied by pictures and explanatory text. People’s attention was immediately caught and one by one they stopped to look. People were astounded by the scenes before their eyes. There were a lot of people who could not believe that such violence and cruelty is actually happening in the world today. Many drivers in passing vehicles also slowed down and asked for leaflets.
People were all very eager to know more about the situation and listened carefully to practitioners' explanations. No matter whether they were old or young, everyone watched silently. Lots of people thanked us for telling them about what is happening in China and encouraged us. There were also people who signed our petitions with tears in their eyes. A guy was deeply moved by China's Falun Gong practitioners continuing to persist in their beliefs despite the torture and murder. He went to sit with the practitioners to express his support.
The flow of people continued to surge forward one group after another. From time to time Chinese tourist groups passed by. Most of them accepted leaflets or Video-CDs; some even took photos of practitioners doing the exercises and demonstrating the torture methods.
