By Practitioners in China
He Miao, female, Dafa practitioner from Bayan County of Heilongjiang Province, went on a hunger strike on October 21 with 12 other practitioners from the third section to ask for their unconditional release. Instead, the labour camp officials responded to their request with a frenzied torture campaign.
The first time He Miao was force-fed with tubes, she refused to cooperate with guard Huo Shuping (male). Supervisor Wu (male) pulled her into an office and pushed her into a chair. Wu then grabbed her hair and started punching and kicking her. When she still refused to cooperate, the labour camp doctor Jiang Chao (male) slapped her so hard that she saw stars. He hit her until her face was numb and then force-fed her with tubes. When He Miao went back to her section, she felt so sick that she vomited into a wooden bucket. The guards saw this through surveillance cameras, so Jiang Chao came in and pulled her away to force-feed her again. She was also beaten and kicked a second time. On the 11th day of her hunger strike, November 1, they force-fed her again. This time she was pulled out by the guard Wang Yan (male) and beaten by the labour camp doctor Chang Fan (male). Chang was even more vicious than Jiang Chao. Due to the hunger strike and brutal beatings, He Miao became so weak that she had to remain bedridden. Her face was so hot and swollen that it had to be covered with a cold towel to sooth the pain. At night, a doctor came and checked her blood pressure. Afterwards, she was sent to the labour camp's hospital to endure another brutal beating, which had become a prelude to every forced feeding.
On November 2, He Miao, Hao Xiuzhi (female, 56 years old), Ding Yanhong (female, 32 years old), a practitioner from the seventh section Guo Mingxia (female, 45 years old, the only practitioner on the hunger strike from her team), and Wen Yiling (female, 49 years old, and has severe scabies) were gathered together and talking. The guard on duty, Yu Fangli (gender unknown), ordered He Miao through the intercom to stop talking and go back to her room. When she refused, guards Yu Fangli and Lin Yinzi (female) charged into the room angrily and beat He Miao and Ding Yanhong. This was the first time they were beaten by female guard(s). On November 3, they were beaten again by guards Han Xishan (male) and Hu Ping (male) for sending forth righteous thoughts. The above-mentioned doctors and guards instigated brutal beatings on numerous occasions, but the practitioners did not relent under the torture. The harder they were beaten, the harder they struggled while being force-fed. The last time when the labour camp doctor Chang Fan finished beating He Miao, her blood pressure was as low as 83/50, and he had to give her drugs intravenously. After that, the labour camp stopped using doctors and nurses who beat up people during force-feeding for a while.
On November 6, due to the fact that 98% of the practitioners at Wanjia Labour Camp had contracted severe scabies, the practitioners demanded to be released unconditionally. Guards at the labour camp used false promises of re-arranging the cells, letting the practitioners go, or transferring them to different sections to deceive them into going downstairs, where they were forcefully taken to a hospital. Due to the fact that they had difficulty moving around (if they moved, blood and pus would ooze out), He Miao brought over their lunch. However, this resulted in another torrent of blows from guard Yu Fangli.
On November 20, it was the 30th day of their hunger strike. At 7 a.m., criminal inmate Wang Xiaohong and guard Yu dragged He Miao into the guard's office, hitting her as they went. They handcuffed her to the heater pipe and then punched, kicked, and slapped her. They slammed her head against the wall and also threatened to use electric batons on her. Practitioners were upset by this and commented that she had not even been allowed to have breakfast. The guards said, "That's a good thing, it's time to scrape off their scabies. From now on we won't be providing any more hot water." They pulled He Miao out to the stairs and handcuffed her to the heater pipe. Then the doctors and nurses forcefully pulled the practitioners out to scrape off their scabies. Their agonizing and pained cries stabbed through the hearts of anyone that heard them. Many practitioners came back crying.
Afterwards, guard Yu called in Supervisor Song (male), who is infamous for his brutality. He swears all the time and punches and kicks practitioners without any reason before force-feeding them. He Miao resolutely refused to cooperate, and a few nurses pushed the tube down forcefully while Supervisor Song hit her. He Miao then pulled the tube out, and they had to handcuff both of her hands to the bedpost before managing to force-feed her. Song said in a rage, "Don't even think you can get out of here by going on a hunger strike! Give her some medicine, she needs 'rest'!" So the nurse forcefully gave her a few injections of some sort. She then felt that she could not move. The police unlocked the handcuffs and brought her back to a room in the hospital. He Miao told fellow practitioners that she was given some injections and that if something happened to her, they would be witnesses of her death. Then she passed out and remained unconscious for a few days. They increased the intravenous infusions from two bottles a day to five bottles a day. However, her blood pressure remained at around 80/50-60. The doctor came and checked her heart rate, lungs and looked for head injuries. She could tell that they were scared because during the last time she was beaten by Chang Fan, they had to use medication due to her low blood pressure. When her blood pressure did not rise after a week of medication, she was beaten once more. It is obvious that these people hold no kindness in their hearts at all.
Something else worth mentioning are the corrupt nurses and doctors. The hospital provides powdered milk, which is funded by the government. One packet is meant to be shared between two patients daily. However, they made four patients share one pack for many days. They even found this to be too wasteful and changed to corn husk porridge. These are hard to use for force-feeding through tubes, so they would add more water. So this so-called feeding is nothing more than half a kilogramme of water with cornhusks per person each day. If it were not for the power of Dafa, the practitioners would have died long ago. The powdered milk packets were taken by the hospital staff for their own use.
Currently, the practitioners have been on their hunger strike for 36 days and not one official has done anything about it.
On November 27, practitioners from hospital room 5 were beaten savagely by guards Han Xishan (male) and Hu Bo (male). 56-year-old practitioner Hao Xiuzhi's hand was badly injured during the beating. Situations where practitioners are beaten in hospital rooms for practising the exercises are commonplace.
