Ms. Dong Yangping, 56 years old, was a staff member at the China Electronic Technology Group in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. As she persisted in practising Falun Gong, her family was repeatedly persecuted by police in Shijiazhuang City. Dong Yanping went into exile to avoid further persecution. She died tragically on September 28, 2004. Details are to be researched.
Dong Yanping had retired because of serious heart disease and had become unable to look after herself. Since she started to practise Falun Gong in 1994, she miraculously regained her health. Not only could she look after herself, but she also could do a lot of housework. Her husband and daughter also practise Falun Gong.
After July 20, 1999, when the practice was banned, she refused to give up Falun Gong practice. Consequently, police searched her home several times. On September 29, 2001 the police arrested her husband, daughter and her and took them to the police station. She was beaten and locked in a metal cage, doing her immense spiritual and bodily harm. During the daytime she was absentminded, and at night she could not sleep.
Later, her home was again searched several times and she was harassed.
On October 30, 2002, police banged on her door several times a day. Due to the extremely vicious harassment, she went into exile to avoid further persecution. It was reported that on February 6, 2004, police arrested Dong Yanping again, in a residential area.
In April 2004, her work unit stopped paying her salary, so her financial resources were cut off. On September 28, 2004 she died tragically.
