Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, was introduced to society by Mr. Li Hongzhi in 1992. Those who practise Falun Gong follow the principle of “Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance.” They not only practise the fives sets of slow moving Falun Gong exercises but also cultivate their hearts or minds. The emphasis is on good morals and aiming to be a good person. Falun Gong spread rapidly in mainland China due to its amazing effectiveness to heal and strengthen one’s health. In seven years, over 100 million people came to learn the practice, which was also spread abroad.
However, in July of 1999, the former dictator and President of China Jiang Zemin personally started the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners due to his own jealousy. Until now it was reported that at least 1089 Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death. The brutal persecution did not make Falun Gong disappear - instead it spread rapidly world-wide.
A Swedish university student who has benefited from practising Falun Dafa created the work illustrated below to express his solidarity to Falun Gong and his condemnation of the persecution.
