Ms. Liu Yuying, about 60 years old, was a resident of Xinxiang City, Henan Province, who benefited from Falun Gong. On December 25, 2000, she travelled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Police and government officials arrested and detained her in the Xinxiang City Detention Centre. After more than a month, she was transferred to Shibalihe Women's Forced Labour Camp in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. Liu Yuying was released from the labour camp eight months later. By that time, Ms. Liu had become extremely weak from the persecution, was emaciated and could barely walk. After she returned home, perpetrators from the local police station and the district police departments from the surrounding areas continued to harass her at home. Under such tremendous mental pressure, Ms. Liu's health condition further deteriorated. She died on September the 17th 2004.
