On the 21st of November 2004, Falun Gong practitioners organised a poster exhibition and exercise demonstration in the city centre of Bristol to introduce Falun Gong and expose the ongoing serious human rights violations against people who practise Falun Gong in China.
Many passers-by came to watch and learn the exercises. People were also interested in learning the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong by former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin and his faction. Practitioners told them that this persecution has gone on for five years and over 1,100 people have already lost their lives. This persecution fully satisfies the recognised characteristics of Genocide. The Falun Dafa Information Centre states that millions of Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested, detained and/or abused by Chinese police. Between 200,000 and 1 million have been illegally sent to forced labour camps without trials. Human rights workers have documented over 38,000 specific cases of torture or severe abuse.
Some people also asked about the local classes where they can learn the Falun Gong exercises for free and wanted to get copies of the introductory book Falun Gong. The poster exhibition exposing the brutal torture methods used to force China’s Falun Gong practitioners into renouncing their belief and abandoning their conscience attracted a lot of attention.
