When the persecution of Falun Gong had just started in 1999, the First Women's Detention Centre of Wuhan was located in the same building. Many Dafa practitioners were tortured there. The guards used a kind of torture on practitioners that was previously used only on prisoners who were sentenced to death. During this torture, practitioners were bound to a wooden board with their bodies in a spread-eagle position. There is a hole on the board through which practitioners relived themselves. Practitioners are often bound there for many days. They are not allowed to wear any clothes or allowed to wear only very thin clothes even in winter. In 2000, the detention centre moved to a new location (see following photo).

The First Women's Detention Centre in Wuhan is located at Erzhigou of Qiaokou District in Wuhan City. Since July 20, 1999, many practitioners from downtown Wuhan City in Hubei Province and from other cities around Wuhan have been detained there. The policewomen's dorms and offices are on the second floor, and the first floor is for lawyers and visiting families. A door is on the right side, and the arraigning room is behind it. There are four ranch house style buildings with twelve jail cells in each building. Every jail cell is about 3 meters wide, 10 meters long, and about 5 or 6 meters high with only one small window. Twelve people are detained in each jail room. There is a monitor and iron grate for each jail cell.
Dafa practitioners are handcuffed to the grate if they do the exercises, and they are not uncuffed even to use the toilet. They are locked with only their tiptoes touching the ground. In each jail cell, there is a cement platform about 8 meters long and 2 meters wide, which is used as the bed for the twelve detainees. The policewomen know that Falun Gong practitioners will not compromise, so they force all the prisoners to stand in order to stir up their resentment towards Dafa.
Hewan Labour Camp in Wuhan
Hewan Labour Camp (it is called Hewan Drug Rehabilitation Centre to the public) in Wuhan is located near Xinhuaxia Road of Hankou District in Wuhan City. Since July 20, 1999, some practitioners in and around Wuhan City have been detained there. At the beginning, guards did not torture Falun Gong practitioners there. After the so-called helping educating group of Masanjia Labour Camp came to Hewan to teach them how to torture practitioners in June 2000, the guards of Hewan Labour Camp did not allow practitioners' families to visit them, and started locking the practitioners in small cells.

Jiangan District Brainwashing Centre in Wuhan
Jiangan District Brainwashing Centre is currently located in the abandoned former Wuhan Smelting Factory of Chenjiaji of Hankou District in Wuhan. You can clearly see the banners with words that defame Dafa in the enlarged pictures. The centre was originally established in an antiquated communist party school with Li Yingjie in charge. This person has been persecuting Dafa practitioners. It has been revealed by concerned people that the leader of the Jiangan District 610 Office always goes to the Wuhan Financial Department to get money.
