On the 27th of January, after a lot of coordination and organisation, an International Human Rights Organization and Falun Gong practitioners successfully held a joint seminar on Human Rights Violations in China in the media room at Robert Schumann High School.
Accompanying a short video clip of the exercises, Falun Gong practitioners introduced Falun Gong, explained a few cases of severe persecution against practitioners in China and then told the high school students how the persecution was the brainchild of China’s former leader Jiang Zemin, who has a personal vendetta against the practice. They told the students about Jiang’s specific order to Chinese authorities on how to treat Falun Gong practitioners: “ruin their reputations, bankrupt them financially, and destroy them physically.”
A documentary was screened entitled “The Truth about the Self-Immolation Incident”. The documentary revealed how Jiang Zemin and his regime arranged people to set themselves alight on Tiananmen Square and claim to be Falun Gong practitioners. This was then used as a propaganda tool in attempts to turn Chinese people against the practice. The practitioners told the students that some Falun Gong practitioners in China have lost their lives after they broadcast this documentary. They also explained how Jiang and his communist party have recently used this staged self-immolation in further attempts to slander Falun Gong and distract public attention from the widespread human rights abuses and corruption that is affecting the country.
After the conference, the students signed a petition to support the lawsuit for crimes of genocide against Jiang Zemin. Some students signed up to take part in the anti-torture exhibitions and call for more people to be concerned about the inhumane persecution happening in China.
Throughout the week before this event, the school hall displayed picture information revealing the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution, including an oil painting of a practitioner being force-fed, explanations of different torture methods and photos of Gao Rongrong, a practitioner whose face was horrifically disfigured after she was shocked by multiple electric batons.
In this Human Rights Report Conference, Mr. Roemer from the International Human Rights Organisation discussed the problems of the Communist Party’s human rights violations in Tibet and made use of his personal experiences to explain this point.
