The 13th of February 2005 is the 4th day of the lunar calendar’s first month. Falun Gong practitioners from various countries in Europe gathered in Chinatown, Paris and held a series of activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

At 11am, about three hundred European Falun Gong practitioners arrived in Republique Square. Although many practitioners didn’t know specifically which activities they were going to be involved in, everyone was lively and ready to help wherever they could. Some of them helped to organise the events, some gave coaching in how to play the waist drums, a group of dancers rehearsed and others prepared decorations. An exercise demonstration was followed by sending righteous thoughts; whilst some practitioners talked with passers by about the persecution and gave out leaflets.

People passing by enjoyed the festive atmosphere that hung over the square. They stopped one by one and didn’t want to leave.
