On the afternoon of the 20th of March 2005, Dutch Falun Gong practitioners held an anti-torture exhibition at Dam Square in Amsterdam, exposing the Chinese Communist Party and the Jiang Zemin regime’s inhumane persecution against Falun Gong. The weather on this day was excellent and there were lots of tourists.
A group of practitioners demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises while the others simulated the torture being used in cruel attempts to force practitioners in China to give up their beliefs. People couldn’t believe that such a peaceful group of people are being tortured like this. There were always plenty of bystanders. Their expressions were solemn and they carefully looked at the torture exhibits, photos and text explanations. After understanding the cruelty of the persecution, some people even wept. Others asked, “What can I do?” Many people signed a petition to support the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin.
Everyone agreed that the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China is wrong. They were very concerned about why the persecution is happening at all. Upon understanding that the reason for the persecution is Jiang Zemin’s personal jealousy and the Communist Party’s evil nature, a large number of people said to practitioners, “I feel very sad and sorry”. After realising that the reason for our torture exhibition today was to stop the persecution, there were also lots of people who wished practitioners, “good luck!”
Kind-hearted Dutch people often asked practitioners, “What has our government done for you?” Practitioners told them, “The Dutch government has done many positive things. Nevertheless, China has plenty of economic ties with other countries and lots of profit-related problems have been dragged in. We hope that the Dutch government will not abandon fundamental values for economic benefits.” Everyone nodded in agreement.
People aspired to know about the truth. When practitioners talked to them, there would often be a group of people crowding around to listen and leaving with heavy expressions. Once four Russian children ran to us hurriedly and asked, ‘Please give us some Russian leaflets’. Another time, five or six middle school students from Illinois in the USA were thrilled when they got hold of information leaflets. They said they had not heard about Falun Gong at home.
