Ms. Zhang Huifang, 64, was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She previously suffered from many illnesses such as hepatitis, ulcer, heart disease, and gynecological problems. She learned Falun Dafa in 1993, regained her health, and changed from a weak and frail person to one who was very energetic. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, she joined an outdoor group practice site and went to Beijing to appeal. She was arrested three times, detained, frequently harassed, and closely monitored. Because she was overwhelmed emotionally, her old ailments returned. She died on July 13, 2003.
Ms. Guan Lijun, 53, was a practitioner who worked for the Huludao City Fifth Petroleum Plant in Liaoning Province. She previously had lung cancer, but recovered after beginning Falun Dafa cultivation in 1996. She went to Beijing several times to appeal and was detained. In February 2001, she was sentenced to one year of forced labour and imprisoned at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. She declared that all written statements to renounce Falun Dafa she made while in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp were null and void. Due to the persecution, her old illness returned and she died on November 20, 2004.
Mr. Yang Rong, 50, was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Fushun City, Liaoning Province. He learned Falun Dafa at the end of 1996 and became healthy in both mind and body. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa in October 1999 and was detained for fifteen days. He was arbitrarily detained again for two months in March 2001, and the authorities followed no legal procedures. In April 2002, he was sentenced to three years of forced labour for passing out leaflets exposing the persecution. In May 2003, during his labour camp term, the lawless officials sentenced him to three and a half years in prison. He was released on medical parole in January 2005 because he contracted terminal hepatitis. In February 2005, he solemnly declared on the Minghui website [Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net] that all his words and actions against Falun Dafa during his imprisonment were null and void. He died on March 24, 2005.
Ms. Li Guilan , 52, lived in Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province. She previously had heart disease, and her physical condition was much improved after cultivating Falun Dafa in March 1999. After July 20, 1999, the police confiscated her Falun Dafa books and did not allow her to practise. She suffered a great deal emotionally. Her husband was sentenced to two years of forced labour in 2002 for cultivating Falun Dafa. When her husband was in the labour camp, police harassed her repeatedly and forced her to stop the practice. She resumed the practice after her husband returned from the labour camp. Under the tremendous mental pressure, her old illness returned, and she died on November 5, 2004.
Liu Bizhen was around 60 years old and a teacher at the Mijiatan Elementary School in Chenxi County, Hunan Province. She began practising Dafa in 1995 and was cured of all of her illnesses. In December 1999, she was detained in a local custody centre because she went to Beijing to appeal, and the authorities extorted money from her. After she was released, local 610 Office (1) agents and the school harassed and persecuted her. The school principal forced Liu Bizhen to phone the school officials twice a day - once in the morning and once at night - to report her activities. They forced her daughter to interfere with her practice, which prevented her from studying the teachings and doing the exercises on a regular basis. As a result, she had a relapse of her old illnesses and passed away in December 2004.
Ms. Tang Wanqing was in her 30s and lived in Chenxi County, Hunan Province. She began practising Dafa in early 1999. Because she told people about the persecution in a park, a police officer abducted her and viciously beat her in a detention centre until she had a mental breakdown. She never recovered from the psychological damage caused by this torture and drowned herself in a river in 2003.
Mr. Tang Chaofu was in his 40s. He worked as the director of the Chenxi County Food Office. He used to suffer from nasal sinus cancer and was given several months to live, but his illness went away after he started practising Dafa in 1996. After July 20, 1999, the officials at his work unit pressured and harassed Tang Chaofu at his home many times, which prevented him from studying the teachings and doing the exercises. This triggered a relapse of his old illness. He passed away in October 2002.
Ms. Mao Haizhen was in her 50s and lived in Chenxi County, Hunan Province. She started practising Dafa in early 1995 and all of her illnesses disappeared. After July 20, 1999, a local police officer named Liu Shuqin ransacked Mao Haizhen's home and threatened her. Because the local police ransacked her home and threatened her numerous times, Mao Haizhen was traumatised and had a relapse of her old illness. She passed away in 2001.
Mr. Liu Daicheng was in his 40s and lived in Chenxi County, Hunan Province. After July 20, 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Dafa and was detained numerous times and persecuted. He passed away soon after he returned home.
Mr. Li Gensheng was in his 70s and lived in Chenxi County, Hunan Province. He obtained Dafa in 1995 and was cured of numerous illnesses. After July 20, 1999, perpetrators from the local 610 Office and his work unit harassed him numerous times. In May 2002, he was abducted during a group practice session. He compromised with the authorities due to the persecution and wrote a statement renouncing Falun Dafa. Living under tremendous pressure and anguish after being released, he passed away in July 2002.
