"610 Office" Staff Beat Elderly Woman to Death in Her Own Home in Fujian Province

At 9:00 p.m. on December 27, 2004, during a house raid by personnel from the 610 Office (1), Falun Gong practitioner Chen Xiuchong, who was about 74 years old, was beaten to death in her own home.

Ms. Chen lived in Xiamen City. On the night of December 27, the 610 Office personnel forced their way into her home and ransacked it. During a dispute between Ms. Chen and the 610 Office staff, Ms. Chen was knocked to the ground while trying to protect her Dafa books. She lost consciousness immediately. The 610 Office staff continued kicking and beating her, saying she was faking. Ms. Chen passed away that night.

As part of the same persecution campaign, and under the overall direction of the 610 Office in Xiamen, police bureau chiefs ordered several hundred officers to arrest dozens of Falun Gong practitioners. The police were divided into teams of seven, who illegally confiscated computers, printers, CD burners, Dafa books, and leaflets exposing the persecution. They also arrested Falun Gong practitioners, including students and teachers from Xiamen University. This 610 Office assault continued for three days.

Fang Guoshi, director of the 610 Office in Xiamen, is a retired military officer. Since July 1999, 610 Office staff in Xiamen have harassed and threatened Falun Gong practitioners many times, causing great physical and mental damage to practitioners and their families.
