Ms. Wang Shujie, 49, lived in Meihekou City, Jilin Province. She was cured of numerous illnesses after she started practising Falun Dafa in 1996. After the persecution began in July 1999, she went to Beijing twice to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa and was sent to a detention centre. In December 1999, Ms. Wang was sentenced to one year of forced labour and held at the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp, where she was ruthlessly tortured. Four guards shocked her simultaneously with electric batons. She rolled down the stairs and passed out. The guards drove a metal needle into the middle finger on her left hand and never removed it. They also tied her to the Death Bed (1).
Between June and July of 2000, Wang Shujie's family took her home. Perpetrators from the local government, the police department, the Street Committee and her workplace pressured, monitored, harassed and threatened her on a daily basis. Wang Shujie suffered a nervous breakdown. She fell into a river and drowned on October 8, 2000.
Note:
(1) "Death Bed" torture: A practitioner is tied to a bed with his hands handcuffed above his head to the bed rails, and his legs tied with thin nylon ropes. The rope is then tightly wrapped around the practitioner's body and the bed, from his legs to his chest. The rope is wrapped so tightly that the practitioner has difficulty breathing and eventually loses consciousness.
