On Friday the 29th of April 2005, a large culture day was arranged with various activities at a senior-level school in Ockelbo, Sweden. The pupils had the opportunity to choose what to do during the day and two Falun Gong practitioners from the city of Gaovle were invited because pupils wanted to know more about the practice. The day was divided into morning and afternoon sessions and there were two groups of pupils.
Practitioners told the pupils how Falun Gong was introduced to the public in China in 1992 by Master Li Hongzhi. They also spoke about how the cultivation practice became popular in China for both its positive health benefits and the improvement in people’s moral standards that it brought about. Today, Falun Gong is practised in more than sixty countries around the world.
The pupils listened attentively and had the opportunity to try the exercises. This also gave them a chance to learn more about Chinese culture and its view of the human body and the state of well-being. Practitioners shared how they had benefited from cultivation practice and how they are trying to assimilate to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance in their daily lives. The pupils also received information that there are books available about Falun Gong and got the chance to read the foreword of the book Zhuan Falun together with the practitioners.
At end of the activity, a video about human rights was shown. Practitioners told the students that a severe persecution has been waged against Falun Gong practitioners in China since 1999. They revealed that this persecution was launched because former president Jiang Zemin was jealous of the Falun Gong’s popularity, and the Chinese Communist Party was afraid of losing power. The pupils realised that the brutal persecution happening in China is an abuse of human rights and exposes the Chinese Communist Party’s real evil nature. They were satisfied and grateful for the introduction to Falun Gong.
