Ms. Ji Mengrong, 62, lived in Wangcheng County, in Hunan Province. She started practising Falun Gong in 1996, and all the chronic ailments that she suffered for many years disappeared. She went to appeal for Falun Dafa at Tiananmen Square in 2000 and was detained in Beijing for 15 days. After she returned home, the local police harassed her constantly and abducted her twice. They also took away her visa to visit her son in the United Sates. She suffered great anguish both mentally and physically, and as a result she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The cancer later migrated to her lungs, and she died on June 9, 2004.
Ms. Tan Xishuang, 43, lived in a village near Yantai City, in Shandong Province. From the beginning of the persecution (July 20, 1999) to early 2001, she went to Beijing several times to appeal against the wrongful persecution of Falun Gong. Deputies from the 610 Office (1) and Township Government arrested her more than a dozen times. She was heavily fined, tortured, and finally came down with severe nephritis. She was sentenced to a labour camp in 2000 and was later released pending hospital treatment. On December 19, 2001 she went to the village communist party committee to pay fines and died that very night under unclear circumstances.
Ms. Wang Yuzeng, 58, lived at Wangchao Village, Linyi County in Shandong Province. She was reported to the police while posting Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution in 2000 and immediately arrested. The police forced her into a brainwashing centre in April 2002. The authorities from the 610 Office did not stop harassing her after she was released, resulting in her death on January 24, 2005.
Ms. Yuan Wenshu, 58, was a retired high school teacher from Yitong County in Jilin Province. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, she went to the Provincial Capital and Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa. She was detained, harassed and threatened numerous times by officials from the school, the police, and the public security bureau. She could no longer study and practise Falun Gong freely, and her family would even question her on calls received from her students. She lived under constant terror. In April 2002 the principal of the school called her and ordered her to report to the school. After learning that they intended to arrest her upon arriving at the school, she decided to escape. She left Yitong County. While away from her home, she detected a lump in her breast. On November 4, 2002, she was lured to the school and detained by the police for 15 days. Her health deteriorated afterwards, and she died on April 12, 2005.
Ms. Zhao Shurong, 73, lived in Meihekou City in Jilin Province. Her ailments disappeared after she started practising Falun Gong. She went to Beijing twice to tell people that Falun Dafa is good. Later, the police frequently harassed her at home after her daughter was persecuted because of her Falun Gong-related activities. She suffered severe mental and physical torment and died on February 22, 2001.
Ms. Li Huafeng, 57, lived in Tonghua City in Jilin Province. She started practising Falun Gong in 1996. Her health improved and former ailments (including breast cancer) disappeared. After July 20, 1999, her mental and physical health suffered severely under the persecution, and she died on December 27, 2001.
Ms. Jin Xifan, 65, was a retired worker living in Wangqing County in Jilin Province. After she started practising Falun Gong in March 1997, many of her illnesses improved. Due to interference from many sources after the persecution started in July 20, 1999, her illness recurred and she died in August 2000.
Mr. Chen Tingfa, 60, was from Daqing City in Heilongjiang Province. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong after the persecution started in 1999. He was abducted and detained in the local county detention centre for more than one month, followed by forced attendance in a brainwashing class organized by the county government. Even though he and his wife were released, his son and daughter-in-law were both sentenced to forced labour camps, and they were constantly harassed by the guards. Their home was ransacked and they were forced to pay a fine. Under such overwhelming pressure his previous illness recurred, and he died on February 25, 2001.
Mr. Yang Yushan, 79, was also from Daqing City in Heilongjiang Province. His daughter, grandson, and daughter-in-law were all persecuted by local officials. Only he and his great granddaughter remained at home. Under constant harassment and intimidation from the local village and brigade officials, he died on September 9, 2004.
Ms. Tang Xiuqiong, 53, lived in Xindu District in Sichuan Province. His cancer of the liver and other ailments were cured after practising Falun Gong. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong after the persecution started. He was detained and later sent to a brainwashing class by local officials. Under the constant stress, threats, and intimidation, he passed away on November 9, 2004.
Mr. Yao Yonghan, 62, was from Huaiji County in Guangzhou Province. His lung cancer improved after practising Falun Gong in 1998. He was arrested by the deputies from the Huaiji County 610 Office on April 19, 2000 and was forbidden to practise Falun Gong. His wife was also detained and sentenced to one year in prison. Placed under great duress, Mr. Yao's lung cancer recurred in August 2001. He died shortly thereafter.
Ms. Fei Muzhen, 51 years old, was an employee in Linghai City People's Hospital in Liaoning Province. Since she started practising Falun Gong in 1994, her body was purified and her various illnesses disappeared. On July 20, 1999, when she learned that the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute Falun Gong, she went to Beijing along with other practitioners to peacefully appeal. On the way, she was stopped. The police brought her back and unlawfully incarcerated her in the local custodial centre for 15 days. On January 29, 2000, during the Chinese New Year, she once again went to Beijing to appeal, and was brought back from Beijing against her will by persons from the local police department. She was incarcerated for 45 days and sentenced to one year of forced labour. Due to the repeated persecution from these criminal policemen, several of her illnesses reappeared. She was then not sent to the forced labour camp, but was bailed out for medical treatment with no living expenses paid for one year. Since then the criminal policemen went to her home many times to harass her. This caused her severe anxiety for a long time. On December 28, 2004, she suffered a cerebral haemorrhage and was unconscious for 28 days. She died on January 24, 2005.
Ms. Xiao Yuzhen, 57 years old, was a teacher in the No. 4 Primary School in Linghai City, Liaoning Province. Since she began practising Falun Gong, her moral character improved and she gained a healthy body. In January 2000, when she was talking with several fellow practitioners, the police unreasonably detained her. She was locally incarcerated for as along as 37 days, damaging both her body and mind. She became ill and died on August 10, 2001.
Ms. Zhang Yanxin, 24 years old, was from Dengta City, Liaoning Province. Before she practised Falun Gong, she was in the late stage of breast cancer and had undergone two massive surgeries. The doctor told her that she would only have three more months to live. Since she started the practice however, her illness totally disappeared and she became healthy. After Falun Gong was persecuted, she went to Beijing to peacefully appeal on July 22, 1999. She was illegally detained and then sent back. The police went to her home many times to harass her, and as a result, her illness recurred. She died on January 15, 2001.
Ms. Qu Peifen lived in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. She had illnesses throughout her body, including numbness of the hands and feet, arthritis, brain problems and stomachaches. After she practised Falun Gong, all of her illnesses vanished and she became healthy. Since Falun Gong was persecuted, people from the police station went to her home to harass her. Her two daughters were sent to forced labour camps, and she was traumatised. Eventually her illnesses recurred and she died.
Mr. Ma Zongru, 72 years old, was from Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province. He became healthy after starting to practise Falun Gong in 1997. When the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, his daughter was persecuted. He lost the normal environment for practicing and his illnesses came back. He died on May 20, 2002.
Mr. Wang Zhendong, 61 years old, was a resident in the Jinzhou District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. All three members of his family practised Falun Gong. In September 2002, his wife was again arrested and sentenced to forced labour. In March 2003, his daughter was suddenly arrested for the second time and sent to a forced labour camp. The continuous persecution traumatised Wang Zhendong, but he remained firm in practising Falun Gong. He went to give out leaflets exposing the persecution to the policemen involved in this incident many times, requesting the release of his wife and daughter. In April 2003, he went to the forced labour camp to visit his wife, but the policemen did not allow him to see her. Wang was very upset and died in a car accident on the way home.
Mr. Jiang Boliang, 73 years old, was from Dalian City, Liaoning Province. As he was firm in practising Falun Gong, persons from the local Rixin Resident Committee and from the local police station threatened and harassed him frequently since 1999. They tried to force him to give up practising, and he went into exile to avoid persecution. Due to the continuous suffering he endured as a result of the persecution, he died in July 2003.
Mr. Wang Siyuan, 86 years old, was from Anshan City, Liaoning Province. He learned Falun Gong in June 1995. Great changes happened to his body and mind, and his numerous illnesses disappeared. He often said it was Falun Dafa which gave him a second life. Since July 20, 1999, he lost the environment of group practice. After he was placed under pressure and intimidation for a long time, he died in June 2004.
