On the 14th of May, UK Falun Gong practitioners held activities to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day and commemorate the 13th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the public. The event was held at St. Martin’s Square next to St. Martin’s Church in London. With the famous Trafalgar Square on the left and London’s Chinatown on the right, the square was packed with tourists.
The Falun Gong show began with a lion dance to jubilant drum beats. Immediately afterwards, there was a display of traditional Chinese parasol and lotus flower dances, followed by a demonstration of the five sets of Falun Gong exercises. A large crowd was attracted by the festive and peaceful atmosphere.
Tourists kept shooting photos and videos and many took the initiative to sign a petition calling for former communist leader and instigator of the persecution against Falun Gong, Jiang Zemin, to be brought to justice for his crimes in a court of law.
Some western people told the practitioners, “We know why they (the Chinese Communist Party) persecute you. It is because they are just the opposite of what you believe in -- Truthfulness, Compassion & Forbearance.” Others said, “Does the Communist Party persecute you? We definitely support whatever they are against!” Many people greeted practitioners in Chinese, saying “Ni Hao”, and had photos taken with practitioners in traditional oriental costumes.
