In Indonesia, the scale of the World Falun Dafa Day celebration was much larger than in previous years. On May 15th, Jakarta practitioners celebrated this year at the coast in the northern district of Jakarta. In a very short time, they formed a team of dancers, a waist-drum troupe and a group holding banners to celebrate and entertain the audience. They also rented several boats which they turned into "Falun Dafa Boats" with colourful banners and a practitioner crew.

The celebration started with the joyful rhythm of the waist-drum troupe. A spectator said that he never saw a celebration of this kind, which was very creative and novel. Furthermore, he noticed that some of the drummers were from a local ethnic group. When practitioners started to demonstrate the Falun Gong exercises, to the surprise of some in the audience, there were also some local ethnic residents. Indonesians typically believe that Buddhism is only for Chinese and that Falun Dafa is also part of Buddhism. They have now learned that Falun Dafa is not the same as the Buddhist religion and the practise is for all people.
