Ms. Liu Zhixian was a 62-year-old practitioner from Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. She began to practise Falun Dafa in 1995. After Falun Gong was banned in China on July 20, 1999, she told people the truth about Falun Dafa many times. Her daughter and son also continued to practise Falun Gong. Their homes were illegally searched and ransacked. Her son went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in April 2000. He was detained twice and was later sentenced to three years of imprisonment in the Zhongba Forced Labour Camp in Guizhou Province. Ms. Liu was constantly harassed and threatened. She died on February 9, 2002.
Mr. Wang Xueyao was 69-year-old and retired from the Harbin New Building Material Company in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. He started to practise Falun Gong in July 1998, and all his illnesses were cured. His wife went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in December 2000 and was arrested. She was held in a detention centre for four months. During that time, officers from the local police station and the neighbourhood administration office constantly harassed and threatened Mr. Wang, which had a severe negative impact on his health. Mr. Wang passed away on June 9, 2004.
Ms. Zeng Duanyan was a 37-year-old employee of the Shaoyang Glass Factory in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province. She was unlawfully imprisoned for practising Falun Gong. After she was released, the factory withheld her salary. Personnel from her work place, officers from the Baichunyuan Police Station and members of the residence commission constantly harassed her at home, and she suffered a mental breakdown. She passed away in October 2003.
Ms. Zhang Gaicui was a 58-year-old practitioner from Quyang County, Hebei Province. Before she took up the practice of Falun Gong, she suffered a cerebral haemorrhage and dizziness. Her symptoms were so severe that she didn't dare try to walk. Shortly after she started to practise Falun Gong in 1998, her dizziness disappeared, and she was able to work in the fields. After two months of practice, her menstrual cycle resumed. After the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, the officials of her village constantly harassed her. She was no longer able to practise the exercises, and her mind and body were gravely affected. She suffered a relapse of her old illnesses and died in August 2000.
Mr. Xu Changyou was a 67-year-old retiree of the Agriculture Mechanization Technical School in Kaijiang County, Sichuan Province. After July 20, 1999, officials from the municipal and township governments, officers of the security department, and police officers from Kaijiang County repeatedly went to his home, forcing him to surrender his Falun Gong books and forbidding him his legal right to practise cultivation. The severe stress this brought him caused him to spit up blood intermittently. Mr. Xu passed away in December 2003.
Mr. Li Dejian was a 63-year-old practitioner from Jiamusi (Kiamusu) City, Heilongjiang Province. Ever since he began to practise Falun Gong, he enjoyed exceptionally good health. Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, police officers from the Nanwei Police Station in the Meat Products Factory often harassed him at home. He lost the environment to practise the exercises. He was terrorised to the point that he suffered a relapse of his old illnesses. He died on October 9, 2003.
It is believed that practitioner Ms. Han Yumei worked for the Baihe Forestry Bureau in Antu County, Jilin Province. Before she took up the practice of Falun Gong, she suffered from jaundice, hepatitis, breast cancer, diabetes, and a brain tumour. She started practising Falun Gong in 1998. All her illnesses were cured. After the persecution began, the police constantly harassed her at home. She was no longer able to study the teachings and practise the exercises regularly and suffered a relapse. She passed away on October 7, 2003.
Mr. Quan Tongju was a 68-year-old practitioner. After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, he and his whole family, including his wife, daughter-in-law, and daughter were arrested and persecuted in detention centres. All of them were sent to labour camps. Mr. Quan was so frightened that he suffered sudden deafness. He was released to take care of his baby granddaughter, but he was constantly harassed and threatened. He died as a result of persecution on November 6, 2002.
Mr. Wang Maoye was a 65-year-old practitioner from Longkou City, Shandong Province. He used to be very weak and suffered many illnesses. He became healthy after practising Falun Gong in 1998.
In October 2000, Mr. Wang went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was arrested by the local police and detained several times. Police officer Yu Jiejun, among others, brutally beat him and physically abused him.
One day in January 2001, Mr. and Mrs. Wang were taken to Dachenjia Police Station in Longkou City. From 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., officer Yu Jiejun interrogated them as to whether they had distributed Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the truth about Falun Gong. He brutally beat them, even though they were both in their 60's. Mr. and Mrs. Wang were beaten black and blue and to look at their faces was horrifying.
Police officers constantly went to harass and threaten Mr. Wang. He was monitored at home and wasn't allowed to practise Falun Gong for a long time. He suffered a relapse and died on December 18, 2001.
