Fourteen Falun Dafa Practitioners Die As a Result of the Persecution in Four Different Provinces of China

Ms. Liu Juan, twenty-four years old, was a resident of Cangxian County, Hebei Province. After the persecution against Falun Dafa was officially launched on July 20, 1999, Ms. Liu was arrested, imprisoned and subjected to forceful brainwashing over and over again. In October of 2002, her father-in-law and husband had gone to Beijing to lawfully appeal for a stop to the persecution and were sentenced to forced labour. The police had searched and ransacked her house twice. Under such tremendous pressure, Ms. Liu still showed compassion to people by stepping forward on numerous occasions to tell people the facts about Falun Dafa so that they too could know the truth. Ms. Liu was constantly disturbed and harassed at her home by the authorities. Liu Juan died on October 22, 2002 as a result of suffering so much, both physically and mentally.

Ms. Dong Xiuzhen, sixty-four years old, was a resident of Anliu City, Hubei Province. She recovered from a back injury of thirty years, leg problems, a long history of high blood pressure and heart problems after she started to practise Falun Dafa. After July 20, 1999, the police and government cadres frequently harassed and threatened her, simply for the fact that she continued to practise Falun Gong. After the police had come to threaten and ransack her house in October of 2002, her old illnesses relapsed and she died on December 10, 2004.

Ms. Wu Shuyun, fifty-three years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner of Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. She had recovered from all her illnesses after she started to practise Falun Dafa in 1996. Many people, including her family members, started to cultivate in Falun Dafa because of Ms. Wu. After the persecution against Falun Gong started in China, the Residents' Committee and representatives from the local police station visited Wu Shuyun's house to harass her and try to stop her from practising the Falun Gong exercises. Such harassment was difficult for Ms. Wu to bear, and her health started to decline rapidly. She finally died from a complication of diabetes on April 5, 2005.

Ms. Jin Huilan, forty-eight years old, was an employee of Tong Shan City Number One Magnetic Factory in Hebei Province. In December of 2002, she travelled to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa and was detained in the security section of the factory. Ms. Jin was forced to write some things showing that she had been "transformed" and was fined 2,000 yuan (1). She was seriously hurt both mentally and physically as a result of the persecution, and died from a cerebral hemorrhage in December of 2002.

Ms. Li Shuhua, sixty-three years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner of Hegang City, Hebei Province. She had lung cancer before she started to practise Falun Dafa. After Ms. Li began practising, she recovered from her illness and was able to live a normal life. After July 20, 1999, personnel from the local police station and the street office unlawfully ransacked her house and forcibly sent her to a brainwashing session and made her sign a "Guarantee Letter" (2). Li Shuhua was seriously injured, both physically and mentally. Because she was not allowed to practise Falun Dafa, she had a relapse of lung cancer and died in May of 2004.

Ms. Ding Giulian, fifty-one years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner who lived in Dailian City, Liaoning Province. She was diagnosed with cancer in 1994 and started to practise Falun Dafa in 1995. Her health improved greatly and she was once again healthy in both body and mind. In October of 2000, Ms. Ding travelled to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa and was arrested at Dailian Airport. She was detained and subjected to persecution at Yaojia Detention Centre. Due to the enormous stress, Ms. Ding suffered a relapse of her old disease, and she died on October 14, 2001.

Ms. Lin Qingxia, sixty-nine years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner in Dailian City, Liaoning Province. After July 20, 1999, the loss of the environment to practise Falun Gong and the pressure from society not to practice subjected her to tremendous strain. Her old diseases relapsed and she died in September of 2003.

Ms. Yang Quanxia, forty-three years old, Falun Dafa practitioner of Dailian City, Liaoning Province. Since July 20, 1999, because of the pressure from society and family brought about by the persecution against Falun Dafa, she fell sick and died in March of 2002. At that time, her daughter, Xiao Xue, was only thirteen years old. Her husband had also persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners and froze to death at the beginning of 2004 after he got drunk and passed out in the street. Xiao Xue is now living with her seventy year old grandmother.

Ms. Chen Baoying, seventy-one years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner in Daian City, Jilin Province. After July 20, 1999, she was disturbed by the police numerous times. At the beginning of October 1999, her daughter was illegally seized by the police. The old woman was frightened and worried for her daughter's safety, and she died twenty days later.

Ms. Shan Jinghau, fifty five years old, Falun Dafa practitioner of Daian City, Jilin Province. Police had gone to her house and disturbed her many times. On one occasion her husband was also detained. She was scared and could not withstand the enormous pressure; she died in the Autumn of 2002.

Mr. Ma Youliang, fifty-three years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner in Daian City, Jilin Province. Because he had been a Falun Dafa practice site assistant, he was constantly harassed and taken to the police station for interrogation. He died in the spring of 2001.

Ms. Xiao Jinrong, fifty-nine years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner in Daian City, Jilin Province. After the persecution started, she had openly practised the Falun Dafa exercises at the Falun Dafa practice site and was detained at the local detention centre. She was questioned and arraigned by the police. Ms. Xiao was released on bail for medical treatment after being detained for a month. She died in the autumn of 2001.

Mr. Wang You, seventy years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner in Daian City, Jilin Province. The police searched and ransacked his house repeatedly and his daughters were also repeatedly arrested. Due to fear, Mr. Wang suffered a relapse of his old diseases, and he died on January 14, 2004.

Ms. Sun Yuxian, eighty-nine years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner of Daian City, Jilin Province. After July 20, 1999, the police ransacked her house many times, and repeatedly harassed the elderly woman. Ms. Sun tried hard to protect her Dafa books from being confiscated by the police. Her daughter was illegally detained and sentenced to detention in a forced labour camp. Due to the heavy mental blow, the Ms. Sun was worried and frightened. She gasped for breath and fell unconscious. Ms. Sun Yuxian died on April 13, 2005.

(2) "Guarantee Statement": A statement to declare that one is remorseful for practising Falun Gong and guarantees not to practise Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.
