Twenty-Seven Elderly Falun Dafa Practitioners Die as a Result of Prolonged Persecution

The following are accounts of 27 elderly Falun Dafa practitioners who had become healthy from practising Falun Gong. They suffered the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution and lost their practice environment. Some were threatened, and their families were cruelly persecuted. Some were unable to continue practising in the suppressive environment and were forced to give up practising and cultivation, which resulted in a relapse of their previous illnesses, and they eventually died.

Mr. Yang Tongwu, 85, was from Shandong Province. During the early stages of the persecution in 1999, he was compelled to give up practising Falun Dafa. He was forced to stand barefoot on an asphalt road on hot days at noon, which burned his feet and made them swell up. His grandson was supposed to join the army in 2003. Mr. Yang was once again told to give up his belief, or the army would reject his grandson. As a result, he gave up the practice. He also missed his daughter, who had been detained for over three years. The prolonged stress under this persecution took its toll on him, and he passed way in April 2005.

Ms. Qu Lushi, 93, was a Dafa practitioner from Yangshu Town, Dehui City, Jilin Province. Under the prolonged persecution, she passed away on December 26, 2002.

Ms. Zhong Mingying, 92, was from Dalianwan Town, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. Under the prolonged persecution, she passed away in early February 2005.

Ms. Sun Yuzhen, 91, was from Huludao City, Liaoning Province. Before she started cultivation she suffered from rheumatism and had to take medication daily. She also suffered from severe constipation. In 1997 she began practising Falun Gong, which resulted in a happier family, and her illnesses were cured. Her son and daughter-in-law were also Dafa practitioners. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, the police often went to their home and harassed them. The media propaganda and slander frightened her. She was scared and gave up practising. In 2000 she became ill. In May 2002 she was harassed and threatened again, and her condition worsened. She passed away on December 1, 2002.

Ms. Xi Guizhi, 84, was from Fuxin City, Liaoning Province. Her daughter appealed to the higher authorities for Dafa and was illegally detained, which caused Ms. Xi's health to deteriorate. She passed away on October 11, 1999.

Ms. Yao Sheng, 82, was from Xingtun Village, Changchun City, Jilin Province. Her son and daughter-in-law practised Falun Dafa, and after July 20, 1999 they were persecuted and illegally detained. They were sent to forced labour camps and forced to leave their own home. Their house was searched and they were fined. The evildoers often harassed them. Ms. Yao was compelled to give up the practice due to the prolonged persecution. She was under physical and mental stress and became bedridden. She passed away on March 16, 2005.

Ms. Yu Guiying, 80, was from Yingkou City, Liaoning Province. She started practising Dafa in 1998. After the Jiang regime started the persecution on July 20, 1999, the police harassed her, and she passed away on November 7, 2004.

Mr. Xiao Yongzun, 78, was from Dalian City, Liaoning Province. In 1998, a car hit him on a pavement and ran over his legs. Prior to Dafa practice, he had pathological conditions as aftereffects of a stroke. It was a miracle that he was still able to stand up. He didn't ask for one penny of compensation from the driver. Everyone who witnessed this thought Falun Gong was so good. In 2001 his daughter brought him back to Yantai. The next day, Police Chief Sun Wencheng from the Xiangyang Police Station in Yantai arrested his daughter and sentenced her to two years of forced labour. He was shocked by this, and since then couldn't take care of himself. Under the evil persecution, he passed away in November 2001.

Ms. Liu Mingxin, 78, was from Yitong Couty, Jilin Province. She started practising Falun Gong in 1995. She had hepato-cirrhosis and high blood pressure. These illnesses disappeared after she began practising, and her face glowed with health. After July 20, 1999, due to the party's slander on television and demonizing Falun Gong, she gave up the practice. She then suffered a relapse of her previous conditions and passed away in October 2000.

Ms. Yu Shuqing, 77, was from Huichun City, Jilin Province. She had several illnesses. After she began practising Falun Dafa in September 1998, she benefited mentally and physically and no longer needed any medication. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, the police often went to her house to harass her and took away her Dafa books. She became frightened and no longer practised, which resulted in a relapse of her previous illnesses. She passed away on February 25, 2005.

Mr. Liu Yuchen, 77, was from Xueli Village, Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province. After he began practising Falun Dafa in 1995, the back and leg problems he had suffered from for over 30 years disappeared. After July 20, 1999, persons from the city's 610 Office (1) and the local police station often harassed him and searched his house. He couldn't practise. He suffered a relapse of his old health problems and passed away on April 28, 2004.

Mr. Gao Guoxiang, 76, was from Kunming City, Yunnan Province. Prior to 1995 he had a stroke and stayed in the hospital for three years. He relied on crutches to walk. After he started practising Falun Gong in June 1995, he got rid of his crutches and was able to walk unaided. In 2001, his wife distributed leaflets exposing the persecution and was unlawfully detained for six months. Their house was searched several times. The police often harassed Mr. Gao. Fang Mei from the Retiree Management Committee at Mr. Gao's workplace assigned Gao's neighbour, to monitor him. Fan Mei intimidated Mr. Gao into renouncing Falun Gong, otherwise he wouldn't get his pension or keep his house. On January 13, 2002, Zhao Meizhi invited the head of the armed police to her house for drinks. When the police officer got drunk, she dragged him to Gao Guoxiang's house. The police officer cursed Gao's family, and threatened to arrest and kill them. Later Gao Guoxiang and his wife had to move elsewhere. After Fan Mei compelled Gao Guoxiang to renounce Falun Gong, his health deteriorated. With Zhao Meizhi's constant harassment, Gao's condition worsened. He passed away on August 13, 2003.

Mr. Yang Fengyi, 76, was from Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. He practised Falun Gong until July 22, 1999. After the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, he became fearful and gave up the practice. Local police constantly threatened and harassed him. He passed away on June 18, 2003.

Mr. Ye Chunhai, 74, from Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. He began practising Falun Gong in 1998. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999 he gave up practising and passed away on January 29, 2002.

Mr. Wang Xi, 73, was from Guangen Village, Bin County, Heilongjiang Province. He began practising Falun Gong in the summer of 1998. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999 he gave up the practice and passed away on January 28, 2000.

Ms. Yuan Suyun, 73, was an employee from the Baihe Forestry Bureau, Antu County, Jilin Province. Falun Gong practice made him healthy. His family was happy and was honoured as an "Excellent Family." After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, the local police often harassed him and he gave up the practice. He passed away on December 17, 2000.

Mr. Ren Zhende, 73, was from Gaizhou City, Liaoning Province. He started practising Falun Dafa in 1998 and benefited both mentally and physically. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, he gave up the practice and passed away in early September 1999.

Mr. Han Quanguan, 73, was from Wuhan City, Hubei Province. He was a retired cadre. After July 20, 1999 police often went to his home to harass him. In 2000 his wife went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Dafa and was arrested and subjected to brainwashing. He was under great stress and couldn't practise on a regular basis due to the evil persecution. He passed away on October 15, 2000.

Mr. Yang Ran, 72, was from Pingdingshan City, Henan Province. He had several illnesses, such as pneumonia and leg problems, before he began practising Falun Gong. In 1998, one month after he started practicing, all of his illnesses disappeared, and he was able to walk without any problem. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999 he couldn't practise normally and passed away on October 26, 2000.

Mr. Wang Zhaodi, 70, was sick when he was young and had several illnesses, such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis and some unknown diseases. Since he started practising Dafa in 1996, his diseases disappeared. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999 he gave up the practice. Under the mental and physical stress, he passed away in January 2002.

Mr. Li Zhaopan, 70, was from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. After he learned Falun Dafa in 1998, his health problems disappeared. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999 he was afraid of being persecuted and gave up practising. He suffered a relapse and passed away in January 2001.

Ms. Zhang Shuxiu, 69, was from Wuqing District, Tianjin City. In 1999 she went to higher authorities to appeal for Dafa. After July 20, 1999 the local police often harassed her. She was afraid and stopped practising. She passed away in January 2002.

Ms. Wang Yufen, 69, was from Handian Town, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. After she began practising Falun Gong in 1998, her illnesses disappeared. On July 20, 1999, due to the Jiang regime's persecution, her family was deceived by the media propaganda and started watching her to stop her from practising. She passed away on June 16, 2002.

Ms. Guo Fengge, 69, was a farmer from Zhao County, Hebei Province. She had uremia, but since she started practising Falun Gong in the first half of 1999 this health problem disappeared. After July 20, 1999, due to the ruthless persecution, she was compelled to give up practising and suffered a relapse. She passed away in June 2000.

Mr. Feng Ricun, 69, was from Fengjia Village, Longkou City, Shandong Province. He was a retired worker from the Jinlong Fan Factory in Longkou and had several illnesses before he starting cultivating, the most severe being high blood pressure. His stomach was swollen like a drum, and doctors could determine the root cause. His wife was practising Falun Dafa and changed a lot. Impressed by his wife's changes, he started practising Dafa and his illnesses went away. On July 20, 1999 the persecution started. He went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was detained by the police and sent to a brainwashing centre. He was forced to write the Three Statements (2). After he returned home, the local authorities constantly harassed him. He passed away from a stroke on March 5, 2004.

Ms. Wang Fenglan, 68, was from the Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. She started practising Falun Gong in 1996 and benefited both mentally and physically. She was under great stress after the persecution started on July 20, 1999 and passed away in June 2002.

Ms. Wang Yufan, 68, was from Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. She had several illnesses, including asthma, before she started practising. After she began practising Falun Gong in 1996, her diseases disappeared. Due to the prolonged persecution after July 20, 1999 she suffered a relapse and passed away on April 11, 2005.

Note:

(1) "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

(2) "Three Statements": Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write "Repentance Statement," "Guarantee Statement" or 'Dissociation Statement" as proof that they have given up their belief. In the statement, the practitioner is forced to admit remorse for practising Falun Gong, promise to give up Falun Gong, and never again associate with other practitioners or go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.
