On the 10th of June, Falun Gong practitioners from Europe, the United States, Australia and Taiwan held an anti-torture exhibition to expose the brutal methods of persecution used against practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party. The practitioners hoped to encourage public support for an end to these human rights abuses against people who only want to peacefully practise their exercises and live their lives by the principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance.

At the anti-torture exhibition, three iron cages showed typical scenes from Chinese forced labour camps: a practitioner being brainwashed, another being forced to do hard labour and a third being cruelly tortured. In the third cage, the simulated methods of torturing practitioners included hanging them up, locking them up and tying them on Tiger Benches — where their feet are put on blocks so that their legs can be bent backwards — were demonstrated one after another.
On the opposite side to the torture demonstration was the peaceful scene of Falun Gong exercises being practised accompanied by beautiful music, which was a stark contrast with the torture demonstration. In front of the demonstrations were boards carrying a brief introduction to Falun Gong and the anti-torture exhibition. While viewing the exhibition boards, many people were comparing what they read to the exercise demonstration. People living in democratic countries find it difficult to believe the fact that the brutal persecution of these peaceful, kind people is happening right now in China.
By signing the petition, they showed their support for ending the persecution of Falun Gong. People were shocked at the cruel means of the persecution |
Using a microphone, a practitioner explained the methods of torture and persecution used by the Chinese Communist Party in attempts to force practitioners to renounce their beliefs. Falun Gong practitioners are trying to be good people according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Their minds and bodies have benefited from practising Falun Gong. They aim to follow Falun Gong’s principles of being a good person in all aspects of life, which is good for any society. Why is such an inhuman persecution of good people still happening in the 21st Century?
Practitioners distributed leaflets to passers-by and answering questions people had. When seeing children and the elderly, they kindly gave them a paper lotus flower carefully hand-made by practitioners, expressing best wishes.
