On July the 20th, Dutch Falun Gong practitioners appealed for an end to the persecution against Falun Gong outside the Chinese Consulate. The banners in English read, “Oppose Violent Persecution”, “Expose the Evil Persecution, appeal to stop the cruel killing”, “Remember the 2696 Falun Gong Practitioners persecuted to Death,” and “Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners.”

Despite it being a working day, people were visiting the consulate to apply for visas and passports. The officer in the Chinese Consulate was frightened when a banner reading “Falun Dafa – Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance” was hung. The officer walked outside to see if permission had been obtained by the practitioners. He later went off to fetch the police and not long afterward, two police officers arrived. After viewing the permission for the appeal and realising the truth about the persecution, they started to ask what Falun Gong is. After the explanation, practitioners gave them some leaflets. One of them said that he’d take them back for colleagues to pass around.
Some conversations occurred when fellow practitioners distributed truth newspapers to those entering the Chinese Consulate. A Dutch citizen of Chinese origin expressed that he once heard about Falun Gong being persecuted. He felt puzzled when fellow practitioners gave him truth newspapers disclosing the persecution. He asked, “What results do you want to get? What have you got for your past efforts?” Our fellow practitioners told him, “Everything we do is for the public to know about the persecution and to stop the persecution. What we did in the past has made a number of people know about the persecution. However, the number of people that know the truth is not enough. So we are still working hard.” He identified with such a method for raising awareness about the persecution and said he’d carefully read the newspaper after getting home.
