Calling for an end to the persecution against Falun Gong |
On July 20th 2005, Falun Gong practitioners held a peaceful protest at the Chinese Consulate in Latvia. They held banners reading, “Falun Gong, Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance” and “Stop the Persecution against Falun Gong Practitioners” to protest against the crimes of genocide committed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) against Falun Gong practitioners and to callfor an immediate end to the on-going persecution that has been taking place for the last six years. During this persecution, over 2,600 innocent people have lost their lives and hundreds of thousands have been wrongly imprisoned, tortured abused and mistreated by the CCP authorities.
Throughout the activities, some practitioners demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts, whilst others handed out flyers to passers-by. People wanted to find out more and some stopped to chat with practitioners about the nature of Falun Gong cultivation practice and the human rights abuses against practitioners in China.
