Ms. Li Baojie, 34 years old, lived in Panjin City, Liaoning Province. Since she continued to practise Falun Gong after the persecution began, she was arrested by the police many times. In August 2004, she was reported while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. Police officers from Panjin City went to Dalian City and brought Li Baojie and her husband, Pan Xushu, back to Panjin City. Both of them were then sentenced to three years of forced labour by the Panjin City Police Department. They were detained in the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. After suffering extended indignity and torture, Ms. Li was tortured to death on April 8, 2005.

Because the police continuously blocked information, covered up the truth and fabricated lies to deceive Ms. Li's family, the circumstances surrounding Ms. Li's death have not been exposed until now.
The following is an account of persecution posted on the Clear wisdom Website on July 20th 2005, that we believe is related to the case of Ms. Li Baojie. The title is, "A Letter Passed from the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp of Shenyang City:"

"...since we came from different divisions and wore different types of clothing, the guards in the first division ordered us to wear uniforms. That was on April 1st. Many practitioners refused to wear the uniforms, and were brutally beaten by a group of guards. Those practitioners, who stood up most prominently to disagree, were not only beaten up, but also punished with detention in small cells. The next day, we took off the uniforms and resisted the persecution. We went on a hunger strike again. This time even more practitioners joined in the hunger strike. We refused to wear the uniforms, sit on the small stools or eat meals, which greatly reduced the extent of the tortures that individual practitioners suffered. On the sixth day of our hunger strike, several guards pressed one practitioner down and more than ten other guards stood beside and watched as they force fed practitioners. After a while, I saw a big vehicle going back and forth. On that day, four practitioners were close to death due to forced feeding. Three of them were saved but one was tortured to death ....."

The time of this letter exactly matched the date that Ms. Li Baojie was tortured to death. Other witnesses also validated that, on April 7th 2005, the guards of the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp force-fed the Falun Dafa practitioners in Division 1. Prison Doctors Cao Yujie (female, about 50 years old), Ding Dayong (male, middle-aged), Chen Bin (female, about 30 years old), and other guards force-fed corn paste to Ms. Li through clamps placed in her mouth. They covered Ms. Li's nose so that she could not breathe.

Witnesses say Ms. Li started to scratch with her two hands and twist frantically. Soon, her two hands were stiff. Then the three prison doctors treated her in a frantic rush for a while. After that, Ms. Li was carried out and sent to the First Hospital of Shenyang Medical School for emergency treatment. The doctor's diagnosis stated: infection in the lungs, Type II breath exhaustion and acid poisoning through respiration. It is clear that the doctors in the First Hospital of Shenyang Medical School were harbouring the criminals and covering up the truth. They also lied and said that this kind of case was not caused by taking in food. Their purpose was to help the guards at the Masanjia Labour Camp shirk responsibility and to cover up the truth that force feeding resulted in Ms. Li's serious condition.

The doctor issued a notice of terminal illness and recommended surgery and placing Ms. Li on respiration equipment. The doctor asked for signatures from both Ms. Li's family and the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp to do so. However, even with a human life at stake, the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp viciously refused this last chance of emergency treatment by not signing. Because food entered Ms. Li's lungs when the guards force-fed her, causing severe injury to her and she was not treated in a timely manner, Ms. Li lost her life on April 8th.
