12-year-old Li Yujuan, of Zhangqiao Village, near Shouquang City, Shandong Province is now without anyone to care for her because her family practises Falun Gong. Her father and uncle have been sentenced to long prison terms. The authorities forced her mother to leave the family. Feeling sorrow and regret, her grandfather passed away. Yujuan's grandmother cannot even care of herself because she is nearly blind.

Born on August 8, 1993, Li Yujuan is a primary school school student in Zhangqiao Village, Luocheng Town, Shouquang City, Shandong Province. After her parents, uncles, grandfather, and grandmother all started practising Falun Dafa, her family benefited both mentally and physically. The entire family became very harmonious. However, after July 20th 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong started, this once happy family was ruined.

In May of 2000, the police sent Li Yujuan's parents to a mental institution because they refused to renounce their belief in Falun Gong. They were severely tormented. Later in August, they were fined 19,000 yuan (1) and released. Li Yujuan's parents were forced to abandon their home because the police were constantly harassing them. On November 28th 2003, Li Yujuan and her father Li Yiming were arrested. Afterwards, her grandparents took her home.

Li Yujuan's father Li Yiming, 36, is a farmer. He was tortured in the Shouguang Detention Centre after being arrested. He was sentenced to a twelve-year prison term in the beginning of 2004. Li Yujuan's mother, Zhu Xiuying's, 38, is also a farmer. In order to avoid the persecution she has became destitute and homeless since 2002.

On March 2002, the police arrested Li Yiming's brother, Li Yichang because he was making leaflets exposing the persecution. He was sentenced to an eight-year prison term. The two brothers are now detained in the Shandong Province Jinan Men's Prison. Li Yichang's wife is not a practitioner. She now lives on a farm with a child to care for.

Li Yujuan's grandfather Li Quangdong, 65, suffered immensely from the disruption to his family. His will to live waned and he died in July of 2004. Li Yujuan's grandmother developed various health problems because she was also physically and emotionally tormented. Her eyesight is severely diminished and sometimes she cannot care for herself. The twelve-year-old Li Yujuan is now left with no one to care for her.
