Ms. Zhao Guangying, 52 years old, lived in Dandong City, Liaoning Province. Before she started practising Falun Gong in 1996, she had cancer. After she practised Falun Gong, her mental and physical health both became very good. After July 20th 1999, Ms. Zhao was deceived by the lies about Falun Gong spread by the Chinese government, and the local Communist Party Committee often tried to force her to give up Falun Gong practice by brainwashing her. Her husband was also deceived by the lies and violently opposed her practising Falun Gong. Finally, she gave up the practice. As a result her health deteriorated dramatically and she had to have an operation to treat her cancer. After the operation, Ms. Zhao wanted to resume Falun Gong practise, but due to various forms of interference, she was not able to do as she wished. Ms. Zhao passed away in November 2000.
Ms. Wu Xiuzhi, 66 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Shangzhi City, Heilongjiang Province. She used to work for the Weihe Forestry Bureau. She started practising Falun Gong in 1997. In 2001, her son-in-law, who is also a practitioner, was sentenced to forced labour. Ms. Wu was under great pressure mentally and not able to practise Falun Gong regularly. She passed away in 2002.
Ms. Cheng Fengying, 62 years old, was a practitioner from the Jiaozuo Area of Henan Province. After July 20, 1999, she was harassed and threatened by the local police many times because she practised Falun Gong, causing her a lot of suffering physically and mentally. Ms. Cheng died on July 16th 2005.
Mr. Xu Siming was a practitioner from Changchun City, Jilin Province. He started practising Falun Gong in 1997. In December 2000, Mr. Xu went to Beijing twice to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. After he returned, he kept telling people the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. In 2002, he was detained during the massive arrest of practitioners after the Changchun Cable TV station was tapped and a Falun Gong TV programme was aired. Afterwards, the local police and the local residential committee frequently harassed, followed and monitored him. Mr. Xu suffered a great deal physically and mentally, and he passed away in June 2005.
