More Details On the Deaths of Ms. Zhang Wenjun from Chongqing City and Mr. Ma Jianshe from Xinji City

Ms. Zhang Wenjun, 69, a retired worker of Jianshe Industry Group Corp. from Chongqing City, was persecuted to death.

She started practising Falun Gong in 1996 and had been steadfast in the practice. Ms. Zhang previously had trouble communicating with others, but one day she went to the Xiejiawan Police Station to tell the facts of Falun Dafa to the officers there. She disclosed the facts of the persecution and explained to them the benefits she had received from practising Falun Gong. The police officers listened to her without any sign of disapproval.

Between Summer and Autumn 2004, police arrested Zhang Wenjun and sent her to the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labour Camp in Jiangbei City for two years of forced labour. Due to high blood pressure, she was sent back home for medical treatment. However, she was persecuted by Li Lisen, Wu Jiuke and other members of the 610 Office¹in her workplace. Her pension was unreasonably suspended and she was left without any assistance in her difficult situation. She had been monitored closely by the Public Security Bureau. Zhang Wenjun was detained in prison for over a year. She suffered from hunger and cold and had oedema before she passed away in August 2005.

Ma Jianshe in Xinji City, Hebei Province Died Due to Persecution

Mr. Ma Jianshe was a bicycle repairman who resided in Xinji City. He fully recovered from diabetes by practising Falun Gong. When the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, he walked to Beijing to tell the facts of Falun Dafa to people who had been misled by the government propaganda, and suffered severe beatings and abuse, and was even arrested. His home was also ransacked, and he was forced to pay a fine and put into prison. In 2003, he was arrested again and sent to a brainwashing centre. His relatives were used by the Public Security Bureau to force him to give up his practice of Falun Gong. He was jailed for a month, which caused him psychological harm. After returning home, he was harassed and intimidated several times by police officers. He became ill in 2004 and passed away in June 2005.
