Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Xu Shaofa was seventy-one years old and lived in Huili County, Sichuan Province. Before practising cultivation, he used to have stomach problems, ( he'd had an operation to remove three-quarters of the stomach), heart disease, bronchitis, and he was very thin and weak due to being wracked by sickness. Shortly after cultivating Falun Dafa in 1998, all of his health problems were miraculously gone.
He told the facts of Falun Dafa to the Chinese government yet the police went to his home and threatened to have his children fired from their jobs if he did not quit practising Falun Gong. However he remained resolute in his belief. TV station journalists also tried to force him at his home to slander Falun Dafa, but he refused to do this also.
Due to long term harassment and pressure, Mr. Xu Shaofa died on June 24th 2005.
Recently, many incidents of persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners have taken place in Huili County, led by the County State Security Division Head Yang Shaoliang. Four practitioners were sentenced to prison terms, more than ten practitioners were sentenced to forced labour, more than 60 detained, more than 40 homes ransacked, and many have been heavily fined.
