Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Hu Jintao is going to visit the UK next week. UK Falun Gong practitioners are using his visit as an opportunity to raise awareness about the CCP’s human rights abuses against Falun Gong to the British society. In the past few days, practitioners from London and outside London have gathered in the capital city to hold an anti-torture exhibition, collect petition signatures and giving out flyers promoting Falun Gong and exposing the CCP’s campaign of genocide against Falun Gong.
The UK practitioners hope to let people know how the 100 million Falun Gong practitioners in China, who want only to improve their health and moral character through the Falun Gong exercises and by striving to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, have suffered at the hands of the CCP. Over 2,700 innocent people have lost their lives, many through torture and maltreatment. Human rights workers have documented over 38,000 specific cases of torture or severe abuse. The anti-torture exhibition in London simulates some of these horrific abuses so that people in the Western world can really understand the severity of the mistreatment of Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Letters and flyers have been posted, presented or distributed to countless people, from the Prime Minister and MPs to The Queen and the man on the street. For the last few days, practitioners have been in different central London locations talking to people and giving out leaflets. They have collected signatures calling for an end to the persecution in front Parliament, outside government offices, near Downing Street and at the exits of many underground tube stations.
It has been raining and windy, but nothing can stop practitioners completing this sacred task. There is only one thought in their mind: letting more people know the truth.
