Prior to the state visit to Germany by the Chinese President Hu Jintao, there were some new developments in the case regarding Falun Gong practitioner Jiang Renzheng, who was subjected to persecution right after he was deported to China from Germany. The following is the transcript of a report by Tian Yi, a reporter from Radio Free Asia (RFA) in Europe:
Since Jiang Renzheng was deported to China from Germany last March, his entire family has been subjected to various kinds of persecution simply because he practised Falun Gong. The German society was shocked by the case. To rescue Jiang Renzheng, some organisations in Germany kept in contact with the Chinese authorities. Recently, our reporter learned that the Chinese President Hu Jintao would pay a state visit to Europe, including Germany on November 9th, around the anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall and that there has been some new developments regarding Mr. Jiang’s case in German society before Hu’s visit to Germany. In this context, the reporter interviewed Tang Wiesberg, who has been very active in rescuing Jiang Renzheng. The German government has made some new decisions and the following is explained by Ms. Wiesberg:
Recording:
Prior to Hu Jintao’s visit to Germany, the organisation engaged in the rescue of Mr Jiang and his German friends have stepped up their rescue efforts.
As to the latest development in this case, according to a German human rights organisation that has long been concerned about Jiang’s situation, they have called on the Chinese authorities concerned to release Jiang and let him and his family members return to Germany as soon as possible, so that Jiang’s case would not affect Hu’s state visit to Germany.
