Dear Respected MPs:
In view of the state visit to Germany by the Chinese President Hu Jintao from November 10th to the 13th 2005, we once again would like to earnestly call for your help urging the immediate stop of the persecution against Falun Gong in China.
Since the international community noted China’s persecution of Falun Gong and the huge toll of practitioners being persecuted to death, more and more leaders of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) have been condemned by western governments and human right organisations.
To avoid domestic criticism and international condemnation against the persecution, recently the Chinese Communist regime has taken a softer approach against Falun Gong in the mass media. Though the recent taciturn has replaced intensive attacks in the past, the momentum of the persecution against Falun Gong has never abated whatsoever.
Judging from the Chinese Communist regime’s propaganda, on the surface it seems that everything is back to normal, but for the one hundred million Falun Gong practitioners in China, the terror is still there as usual.
In China, people have to risk their lives in order to practise Falun Gong; the Chinese citizens living overseas may be monitored by Chinese agents; their visa extension will be denied and their newborn babies may not acquire Chinese nationality. As long as they are identified by the Chinese government as Falun Gong practitioners, they are subject to cruel persecution after returning to China.
I sincerely call on you to give us a hand to rescue Jiang Renzheng and his wife, who are Falun Gong practitioners repatriated to China on March 7th, 2005, after their applications to Germany for political asylum were denied. Though the case has caused concern to the relevant committees of the German national parliament, it is regrettable that they haven’t changed the decision previously made by the German government.
As to what we are worried about, Mr. Jiang was imprisoned in a forced labour camp to undergo the reeducation for three years, simply because he refused to give up practising Falun Gong. His wife, Ms. Kuo, has been away from home for over six months now to avoid intimidation by the police. Their family has broken down and their two children are taken care of by their grandparents who have been under tremendous pressure because of the case.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in the process of rescuing Mr. Jiang Rezheng and his wife, and the Würzburg’s Administrative Court also amended its judgement so as to grant them asylum, on October 26th, 2005.
We sincerely call on you to take advantage of the state visit by the Chinese president to urge the German President to ask Hu Jintao to immediately put an end to the persecution of Falun Gong and release Jiang Renzheng, during his meeting with Hu, so that Jiang and his family members are able to return to Germany.
Putting an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China not only will benefit the Chinese society’s development, but it is of benefit to foreign investors in China as well. We believe sound social development in China will help enhance the economic cooperation between our two countries.
It takes great courage to improve China’s human rights situation and enhance Sino-Germany economic relations at the same time, but your righteousness in this regard would be highly respected by the people around the world.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely yours,
Falun Gong Practitioners in Bavaria, Germany
